i wouldnt blame it on switching between a back 3 or back 4 as its always primarily just the 2 CBs.
cos either way in the modern game, the 'wingbacks' as they are now called dont stay flat with the CBs anymore.
players like moreno, manquillo, johnson and even emre whos technically obviously not right back...and all like roaming up front.
the main issue should lie with BR and his tactics again, as this is the typical system employed by almost all modern teams...even with rafa...
so unlike other teams who employ 2 DM who sweep together providing a nice buffer for the 2 CB...BR rather push and push and leave less at the back with basically the sole DM in front of the 2 CB...and which of cos leaves a little bit more gap at the back.
that said, with 7 players pushing up front, u would expect the team to score more goals

We began promisingly enough, the system used for this game was quipped by commentator that it was the system we employed so successfully last season n early part of this season.
I know, in gerrards high standards, last nights game account as one of his worst performance, his advance role later part did give Liverpool more bite but, but.. Liverpool last night played a cliche game, other LFC players weren't bringing much to the table, after being hit by palace to level of the game, we kept passing n passing n hoping to give gerrard the final ball in the "hope of a fairy tale ending".
Come on, maybe that works in Hollywood scripts, it's probably understandable to give it one try but almost every final attempt appeared to lead up for gerrard to slam a 30-40m shot or asking him to chase the final ball in the box. It got stupidly too predictable.
Nobody.. No Liverpool player last night wanted or could rise to the occasion. Courtino was starved of support. If I'm the manager, I fuk those players hoping to give gerrard the final shot, he is 34 n no spring chicken. Gerrard can provide the final assist of lead up to it. He still has that vision. He most definitely cannot run inside the box to receive the through ball for the final glory.
Were the players told to do that? Why didn't the manager tell the player(s) off? What were they all thinking ? Ya right it's because the current players can't think. The manager (BR) placed a "system where (any of the) players are replaceable" and matter of fitting in the player trained to believe in the system.
Rafa's squad was accused of being too rigid, like some chess grandmaster, plotting and dictating the team. To me there were rooms where individual players flourish n did rise up on occasions. Apart from courtino, none of Rodgers squad make the cut for rafa's mighty LFC when the owners backed him (Rafa) instead of sipping LFCs money
With no officially recognized striker apart from the late Rickie intro, we were bound to fail. Sure in Rodgers philosophy, anyone shd be able to score, the task shd be shared instead lies on the burden of strikers. Noble philosophy but naive. So naive was Liverpool s form the whole season. I would sum that up.
We technically only lost 1 (good) player from last season last seasons much talked about 2nd place squad but bought a whole bunch of new players to supposedly reinforced, to added strength to a final assault to the pinnacle.
That's how it will be seen to every LFC fan, to the neutrals. Hopefully FSg knock itself some senses. That's all I'm asking the owners to do. To see itself as being taken for a ride or really listen and analyses the lfc woeful performances we been dishing out for the whole season.
