I dunno la... personally I feel the darkness is more or less the same but the shine on the Mazda 1 is different. Kind of like the soul red but greyish silver. The Toyota 1 is just grey metalic. laugh.gif
Yup, may be you are correct also, the colour might be different depends on the environemnt light. Since it's colour, so it's personal choice.

If 1.5 turbo den my opinion stands. It should be neck to neck with Fiesta ST as hot hatch category. Else doesn't make any sense having a 250NM torque for RM90k car. Other RM90k no need to sell and can close shop liao. laugh.gif

QUOTE(doi0728 @ Apr 20 2015, 11:55 AM)
diesel engine is different with petrol engine, Skyactiv-D yes it has 250NM but only 105PS, compare with those hot hatch category which fiesta ST that come with 182PS and 240NM, so Mazda 2 diesel definitely not under hot hatch category.

Just found out something. Not sure how to verify but:

Mazda 2 skyactiv-g 1.5 0-100km/h - 10.1s
Mazda 2 skyactiv-d 1.5tebu 0-100km/h - 9.5s hmm.gif

It's even slower than Swift Sport. hmm.gif

With same gear ratio, higher torque (NM) wins acceleration race, higher horsepower (PS/KW) wins top speed race.

But diesel engines redline around 5k rpm while petrol engines redline around 6.5k-7k rpm, hence, the gear ratio will be different. In the end, the performance of diesel & petrol variant will be closely similar.

It all comes down to preference.

Diesel, turbo car, powerful acceleration turbo kick but there are turbo lag; great FC, but reduced comfort due to loud idle, non-linear turbo kick acceleration and coarse low frequency growling sound when accelerate. NOx emission is bad for health (France is considering banning diesel cars).
Petrol, natural aspirated car, linear but subtle acceleration; lower FC, but better comfort due to low idling sound and smooth acceleration sound.

If I am not mistaken, roadtax is the same for 1.5L diesel & petrol, only above 2L engine, there will be a big difference.

To compete in hot hatch, Mazda most probably fit 1.5L turbocharged engine in Mazda 2 MPS, or 2.5L turbocharged engine in Mazda 3 MPS. Or... Revive the rotary engine!! Since it is designed for performance, emission control throw out the window. drool.gif drool.gif

There are endless possibilities, just whether Mazda Malaysia willing to make the extra steps to provide these services or not.

if the numbers are correct, turbo diesel acceleration win a few seconds from NA petrol M2 only. Kinda disappointing. hmm.gif

Based on numbers and reviews, the common diesel problems already eliminated. The tebu in use is low powered 1 so common tebu problems may not be present. The skyactiv-d max torque kicks in at 2k rpm so this is the kind of car that is best driven at 2k rpm and maintain low FC. If the numbers are true, the rated FC of skyactiv-D is 4.7L/100km compared to petrol's 5.6.

Mazda tebu diesel tech:

Not sure if the 2.2 twin tebu diesel is meant for which Mazda car.

Copied from BHP sites

QUOTE
How does Euro5 diesel differ from Euro2M diesel currently sold in Malaysia?
The main difference is that Euro5 diesel contains only 10ppm of sulphur compared to 500ppm for Euro2M. It is therefore a much cleaner fuel which produces lower emissions for a cleaner environment. As a significantly higher grade diesel, it also extends engine life and improves fuel efficiency.

Sulphur in diesel creates particulate matter (PM) during combustion and the continued generation of PM causes health issues. In addition to environmental and health issues, the sulphur in the fuel also contributes to increased acid levels in the engine that can cause damage to engine and emission control systems. The presence of sulphur in the engine exhaust gases limits the effectiveness of many exhaust after-treatment technologies, resulting in higher emissions of other pollutants.
