Some companies have probation period; some doesn't have. So, it's not a general rule of thumb.

I don't think Agilent and Avago got probation period. That's according to my current knowledge after surveying among employees and contract staffs.

True. FIT / Firmware / Controller department currently undergoing massive expansion. Most people that join will get sent to the US once they demonstrate that they can work. Normally will go for 6 months at Lake Forest, CA.

2007 no increment.

IT department is incharge of the whole WD IT infrastructure... cos we have many many different program for different department & tools... so sometime i think like they are all very very messy, with no similar standard to follow... Every department will have their own sub website and sub program... in order to use their program, you need to register!!! think like this way: low yat forum, cari forum, kaki forum, & other forum, they all are under same company, but their layout is totally different, and you have to register in each if not all before you can use them... sometime i think i cant remember all the account i have here...

so you can image what IT is doing la... if you're incharge of certain program/project, then you just have finish it, regardless of whether the website/program is same/following others standard.... i'm not in IT department, just think that's the way they work la...

but from what i can see... they are quite loaded la... 3 of them driving Honda City, their boss, normally ride motor to work... hmm.gif hmm.gif

Management trainee is a general term. Other company could fashion with other term like probation, graduate traine (for Intel), Team Blue (for IBM) and etc.

I guess you are right. I have a question here. I just got a job offer from ENSR, an environmental engineering company yesterday. I have an interview with WD on monday for the graduate leadership program. If i were to get WD offer too, which would be a better choice if i were to compare both in terms of career advancement?

ENSR- Environmental Engineer, travelling a lot
WD- graduate leadership program, got classroom sessions and exams too.
