You mean the Indons?

If your job truly requires the need for Internet access then I'm sure they'll approve it, but then very few Development work done in Msia, mostly done in US.

Working in WD ain't that bad. sweat.gif

Agreed that most development work are done in the US. Most of the work done here are factory process related (yield, cycletime, downtime, etc). However, we are getting some opportunities to do some small/minor product development work here too - takes some time as we lack the skills and technological knowledge. Some will also have the chance to train in the states for about 3-6 months doing product transfer/development work.

Well internet access is secondary... and depends on the scope of your work. You really got to have a good reason for it. I've got it.

Sorry! WD used to have a plant in Prai, Penang. They have closed down many years ago. Initially i thought you're talking about WD in Singapore since no exact location of the factory was being mentioned before.

i think that one in Prai is Seagate, not Western Digital....yes, they close down in Prai, all move to Bayan Lepas

If the management people is still the same for WD Media, then no different la from former Komag. Just change name only. Environment is still the same.

The same team of management might be sent for training (or braincwashing) to adopt new business policy. It takes time to revamp or switch from one current environment to another.

How bad was it under Komag?

One benefit for WDM is that we might follow Komag's practice of paying the 13th month salary, instead of totally relying on the current bonus system.

I am about to be offered a position in Western Digital Pasir Gudang, formerly Komag (USA). I'm now in the negotiation phase with the HR. Any advices from the current or ex-employee here? I will be handling the optical characterisation equipments there. Still waiting for the official formal name for this position.

No formal process for interview, just that interviews are conducted by individual departments and each department has their own styles.
