Z5 in terms of customisation and better cooling and while S5 has the pcie slot for SSD and look more for professionals if i'm not mistaken.

No, stand alone SSD + HDD would be better. SSHD just cache the frequent used files/programs and also the small capacity of the SSD cache but would be better than normal HDD.

SSD > SSHD > HDD

You can ask more question on their thread.

Old school style, those got mxm slot, heavy n big but good news is when spoil dun need change the whole mobo, n can play like LEGO.. n less heat issue

New age r those thin n light so called gaming laptop like razor, MSI, new aw where everything soldered... they can claim they hv this n tat to reduce heat n bla bla but results shows all of them can cook egg after 6 months ( note tat I means thin n light). New aw15 wif gtx 970m dun look at it... unless u buy a super cooler..

New age gaming when rosak after warranty mostly can throw. Unlike old school where u can replace the parts...

Get those older version Alienware, illegear, gigabyte, aftershocks, MSI GT series( only GT series, other all I dun recommend)

If u really wan a lasting gaming laptop.. BTW rog is not in the list coz they no longer tahan like those days
*
ROG can tahan... the laptop itself is ok. new tech, new chipset like intel and nvdia will ensure the longevity of the laptop. the thing that not tahan is the power adapter itself. spoil after 6 months most of them. i experience it myself as well as my cousin. i'm using the old G53SW last time. when the first Jet Stealth design on ROG. less then 1year, i resale it. cz of that adapter issue.

go for ILLEGEAR Z5. best bang for bucks. u have extra money, customised it to 1Tb hdd (sshd) + 64gb mSata. and max 16gb ram. previous notebook have ram. if its comes with 8gb... then.. xnd purchase extra ram.. save money either for extend warranty or go for better display LCD/thermal paste compund.

wat u mean by legend? cheap gaming series always comes with consequences sometimes.. as wat 1 of the sifu quotes.. cheap no good, good no cheap. but not all expensive good too...
some brand expensive cz of its name but offer crappy specs. still expensive.. same level with mainstream notebook lvl.

I still support older gen Alienware... now digging see which shop still got stocks to sapu...

2. Budget : RM2500+- (below 3k)
3. Usage : Mostly long hour heavy gaming and watching movies. (main games would be Dota 2, CS:GO and soon-to-be released games like batman Arkham knight, the Witcher 3 etc, smooth fps in low graphic is enough)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : at least 14inch

get Dell 7447 with gtx850m+i7 / i5, + win8.1.. its within your budget. if u get i5 also ok. max the ram with remaining money

you need portable? 14", 15" hmm.gif if u need portable. then 14". else.. try get 15" so, i think storage is important a bit since you will keep a lots of things inside. 1Tb storage for all notebook
use remaining money to get at least 8gb ram.. if the notebook comes with 8gb.. then, no need. save a lot too. since you do fund rising and need use some for activities.

how much is this laptop costing ? do you know anyone selling this in garage sales ?
*
he is selling it laugh.gif dont know his price. but it comes with different version. i5, i7 with freeDos, and i7 with win8.1; 2.5k, 2.7k and 2.9k around that price

QUOTE(azmieza @ May 12 2015, 02:08 PM)
bro pandera999, thank you very much for your reply and advice....

i dont mind about size of the monitor, but ,14,15 is ok. if 17, it will increase cost. normal screen is ok, dont need 4k or 2k....

what important is CPU,grafic card and RAM.... because i use for video works, but not too heavy la.... just record, live streaming, encode, burn, uplod to youtube... all use lot of power....

but i dont understand and confuse about how to choose the right machine....

now i have rm2500 and maybe keep increasing slowly after this..

which one is better i7 or i5 for my work?
from my reading, heat management also important.. and i use for video editing. so how to know which is good?

about the harddisk, i prefer the minimum size because can use external harddisk....

and lastly, thank you very much.....
*
17 is desktop replacement. the cpu is important for vdeo editing + graphic works. but mostly all the notebook comes with ULV process which gives better battery life w/o worry about plug charger on wall. even the i7 also dual core type not quad core as what u think. if not heavy rendering 3D or wat. the specs i give is quite decent. you might want to choose i7 bcz it has higher clock than i5. so go for i7. you will process your video faster.

ULV processor also produce less heat. not worry about. 1Tb storage gives you bonus.

you might want see 14" Dell inspiron 7447, 500gb, 4gb ram, comes with gtx850m which is better than all notebook that i suggest above. so, its kinda a bonus. just the processor is not ULV type. so.. a bit power hungry and slightly generate more heat.

Hi everyone, I am a newbie over lowyat and just managed to find out this website through Google recently  blush.gif
I have been struggled these few days to opt for a suitable laptop for me and hopefully ts and other members could help me out to look for a suitable laptop/ultrabook as a going-to-be university student
Here are the details :

1. Preferred Brand :
Asus, Dell (for its on site service ) or anything

2. Budget : RM2k to RM3.5k

3. Usage : For university projects, movies, and light gaming

4. Preferred laptop/screen size : 13" to 15"
+ =< 2kg

Uhm, and not to forget,  icon_question.gif  is it touchscreen or backlit keyboard important for us as a student during our university life?
Hope to get some opinions on this issue.

Thank you in advance
*
backlit or touchscreen is optional. its kinda not good thing to do ur things in the dark even have backlit keyboard. u will had strain ur eyes. sooner or later, u will realised your eye sight getting blur when see distance object... not good practice.

Asus TP500LB-DN002H 15.6” FHD ~ RM3000+/-

hello mates..

i need a simple help:

1. Preferred Brand: ASUS but other brands will work as well

2. Budget: less than 1k  blush.gif

3. Usage: documents, normal web browsing, youtube and maybe watching HD movies

4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 11.6"

so basically i'm looking for a simple for doing assignments and so on.

but i need a long battery live (preferably over 6 hours)
i've been searching lately and i found the asus x205 and the HP stream 11 are good devices but the 32gb storage is just too little for me
i also like the ASUS x200ma but the battery life is just too short!

please help if you know any other models that would suit my needs..

thanks in advance  thumbup.gif
- also if the ram is easily upgradeable that would be nice but not important  wub.gif
*
hp stream 11 did offer 64gb if not mistaken.

asus also have 64GB version which cost RM899+/-

Both the RAM and eMMC storage are soldered and NOT upgradable

Budget: RM 2k max

Personal preferences: i5 for processor, with optical drive, screen 14 inch or bigger, with OS.

Thanks.

try purchase w/o free gift. might be less than exact price. 15" might be heavy and she seems gonna move around.. so i guess 14" is consider standard size for college use. not too heavy

My preferred specs:

Any brand, budget up to 5k, up to 13 inch, preferrably light as I will be moving around a lot.

Thanks in advance for the advice
*
the best option u have is. not sure if Illegear still sell this unit or not. but this is the best option so far. with autocad demand a lot on processor core and hyper-trading.

Illegear Q3 13"
13.3" Full HD Anti-glare Display IPS Wide Color Gamut & Viewing Angle (1920 x 1080)
i7-4710MQ
Nvidia GeForce GTX 960M 2GB GDDR5 with Optimus Technology (Maxwell)
