Guys and Sifus,
Currently I'm planning an upgrade into full frame.

But I'm am facing a dilemma on either to stick with Nikon and opt for (D610) or switching into Mirrorless ( Sony a7 2nd hand )

I'll be mainly focusing on doing pre-wedding shots and actual days.
(Currently assisting my friend)

Thanks in advance.

not pro but few thing need to consider lor:

you got that much lens and flash gears for F mount, if switch to mirrorless, then you have to buy whole new sets again wor for job sommore.

good thing is mirrorless is light, good for you if your current gear is tiring .... a lighter load would be helps a lot.

but performance of both bodies i duno la, i duno you use burst shot in your job or not hehe.

Yeah, shooting in DX mode will reduce cropping potential since you reduce the 36MP to 16MP  laugh.gif 16MP is still plenty to crop what brows.gif And since the photo sizes are smaller, editing will be much faster too in LR and Photoshop.

You can actually customize the FF --> DX --> FF conversion into one/two buttons, its very straightforward and fast actually; there's no need to go into menu to change. I would recommend you to try it out, its one of the most amazing things of the camera haha... took me 1 year to realize that  doh.gif

The trick is to switch between FF and DX intermittently, depending on what you shoot. E.g. wide angle shot, or shots that require the full potential of FF, then shoot at FF. For extra zoom (1.5x), or not-that-important shots, shift to DX. Doing this will greatly reduce the amount of space taken up by the photos  thumbup.gif

not yet have that habit, in trip always have unexpected shot one. like walk on street see ah moi from far, later want shoot baru tau forget switch... sweat.gif

best is to have all 36mp only haha. since i already bought the card canot turn back liao laugh.gif
since after i get back to PC, i zoom in and find something funny inside photo one. normally when i shoot i dont care much one haha... me is shoot and run type hmm.gif

because my one is japan AP set, so i checked japan is 120V, malaysia is 240V.

a little skeptical because one of my friend phone (note 2) mother board fried during his japan trip... so i'm kinda scare my charger fried too if use here. (if i travel to japan, that one i have to worry my phone charger there...)

D: is there any reason to stick with DSLR? ( lets put the weight aside first )

really love DSLR , the shutter sound etc.. but then it seems like mirrorless has much more to offer...

dont wanna leave behind my Siggy 35mm ART sad.gif

oh ya and i like to do street photography as well.. hence the size matters there too..

drop durability, optical view finder especially under strong sun light, you cant see any shi1ts with screen, EVF can see la but got delay one, new model i not sure....

lens for mirrorless i hear also expensive right? unsure.gif

battery i duno, i not sure which one lasts longer...

Ahh.. I happened to come across the same topic yesterday. In fact, I noticed that plenty of DSLRs that have a cheap price tag usually have a China-style charger.

You have to check the adapter or manual of the device for the details.. most electronic devices have a range of 120-240 laugh.gif

thing is you will skeptical when you heard your friend phone motherboard fried during japan trip unsure.gif

DSLR more durable ?
Optical view finder cant see clear under strong sun rite? and the EVF will be able to adjust itself iinw.

yea mirrorless lens expensive, but Nikon juz bought over Samsung mirrorless tech right?
really hope nikon could step up its mirrorless tech.. wanna be nikonian 4eva

battery mirrorless one not that good compared to DSLR.
*

yeah like goldfries said, weather sealing. also not to mention since D300, D700 both full magnesium alloy body too, now D600 got partial alloy body. i never heard mirrorless got those XD

and even nikon bought samsung tech, don't give high hope on them like nikon1 XD

and OVF is usable in all situation. unless you mean pitch dark one la, that one EVF might usable due to it can project brighter exposure before shoot, but i sure lag one lor because it delay shutter one like phone lol

the one i said not usable under strong sun light is screen, i mean the big screen on camera body, since i not sure which mirrorless got viewfinder one, those without one like NEX3, NEX5 , under sunlight cannot see a single shiat.

i need opinion guys
i have D5500
i want to buy extra batteries, is it ok to buy 3rd party batteries like DSTE EN-EL14?
Nikon Original EN-EL14a very expensive, i want to save money to buy prime lens.
*
never use this so i dont know
http://www.amazon.co.uk/DSTE-EN-EL14-Recha...al&pageNumber=1

the only thing i can help is you go read the negative review to check worth the money or not. unsure.gif

by the way, how much price difference of the 3rd party and original battery?

i would suggest save it in longer go. at least when you sell your cam, the spare battery still have the value.

Like what the others have suggested, I think it will be nice to stick to ori batteries as its less risky.
Recent Nikon promotions offered free batteries as well. I think 2nd-hand ones can be relatively easy to find since several models may share the same batteries hmm.gif

Personally, having 2 batteries will be most useful, especially when you are covering events or having vacation overseas. Of course, learning to review photos less after each shot will help conserve batteries i.e. the more you use the screen, the faster you will lose battery life.  laugh.gif

i 1 battery shoot 2 days whistling.gif tongue.gif

eh so far i've never heard of battery ruining cameras, at least not the newer ones 3rd party or not.

and talking about batteries, the number of shots you can get from mirrorless in a single charge is just  doh.gif

both my eos M and olympus em10 managed to get about 200 shots before battery kosong, my canon 550d and nikon d7000 can easily give me more than 1k shots in comparison.
*
i think is have to do with screen on time when camera activated??

QUOTE(Vox @ Dec 16 2015, 04:43 PM)
Guys,

need some help here I think a month ago, I commented that I have bought a D7100 + 50mm f1.8 prime lens and additional kit lens.

Played around with both lens, the kit lens really cant satisfy me.
I really love the 50mm lens as I mentioned before, I love taking clear shots.
But the problem is prime lens cannot zoom and not really practical for travel.

Im planning to get one good lens with similar quality with my prime lens.
- Able to zoom
- Wide for landscape
- Low aperture for better speed and bocay.
- Budget - 2k
- zoom range between 50-70+ is enough due to weight restrictions

I do not mind about brand or whatever as long as the quality and durability stays.

Any recommendation guys?
*
zoom between 50-70mm.... in DX is around 75mm- 105mm...

i think you walk 1-2 steps to front will do icon_idea.gif

by the way 50mm in DX is not really wide tongue.gif
35mm f/1.8 baru wide hehe

+1 laugh.gif
Although the brand itself will cost you some money, the price is still quite justifiable.
However, if you are not planning to stay with DX in the long run, it will not be worth to get the Nikon 17-55 (even though its better) because it will be difficult to sell it out when you upgrade to FF/ jump ship later on  cry.gif

Moreover 24-70mm is a full frame lens, so it would be 36-105mm on your DX camera sweat.gif so it's still better to get the Tamron ones smile.gif

lasts me like 4-6 years now lol...

was bought like using with D70s for 2 years , then now already got D800, the body now i think already 2 years so total like 2-4 years i forget tongue.gif
