Headache...but I guess it's about personal preference after all. I found that we as Malaysian like to eat strong food with strong favor and I guess that is why you hardly can
find authentic Japanese food in Malaysia. Even Jogoya has changed their food variety (serving fusion food) to suit Malaysian taste bud...

Personally, I think Tao and Rakuzen are the recommended one currently. (Who knows when are they getting big and start ignoring quality?)

Btw, seems GoEatOut has a post about top 10 Japanese restaurants list... blink.gif
*
WOW... if you trust THAT LIST... you are CONNED... all those famous ones are not in the list, but those crappy ones... like jogoya, saisaki and daidomon I BANNED them long time ago... while nihon kai, rakuzen and umaiya, they are only considered as OK or GOOD, but nowhere near BEST!!!

QUOTE(goldfries @ May 27 2011, 04:06 PM)
if not trust bloggers then how? smile.gif anyway not all are painting false picture.
saw it on deodorant's site as well. biggrin.gif which one did you people go to?

i intend to go Damansara Perdana branch.
KL Hilton / Le Meridien there right?

i went but not for buffet. nice food.
*
yaya... KL HILTON... i heard lots of good reviews about them already... should plan a trip there... hehe...

QUOTE(lohmaikai @ May 30 2011, 12:39 AM)
So which jap buffet would u guys recommend for budget rm80-120 per head for weekend lunch?
prefer quality more than quantity as it is special occasion. Got fedup with subpar quality at Shogun/Tenji2
*
you can try KAMPACHI @ equatorial, so called the BEST JAPANESE restaurant award winner...

but i personally prefer ZIPANGU @ shangrila...

or you can try IKETERU @ KL HILTON or GENJI @ PJ HILTON and let me know if they are good... =P

I would recommend equotorial hotel, best Japanese buffet only available on Sunday, other days they have but not buffet but need to order individual so it will cost more for the same amount you eat assuming you eat more than the buffet price. Anyway, not sure if other people posted here before on equotorial hotel, but I lazy scroll back tongue.gif Anyway I know my spelling for the hotel is wrong but I know equotorial hotel KL is the best Japanese buffet in Malaysia, the second best is no where close to equotorial hotel.

Oops, I suddenly noticed the person above me recommend kampachi which is equotorial hotel, I personally think that is the best..

One of the best udon I tasted in my life is this.

JOGOYA?

hi dupe (or newbie)

please go through a few pages of the thread. Jogoya is crap buffet and not worth either the money or the space the food takes up in your stomach.

I just want to share my opinion here on MAIU Buffet offering in their damansara branch .I think i just made the perfect choice this year to celebrate father's day in there. The food quality was great for its cheap price of Rm 38.8 + 10% service charge though there are room for improvement.

The buffet menu is quite a mess with no english translation provided hence we have to keep referring to ala-carte menu for guide. I just wish they can make it easier for us . Also there is no unagi available for order at their spread, I guess maybe unagi is expensive.

Give their sukiyaki and chicken teppenyaki a miss. Its not that nice at all. The sukiyaki broth is so sweat that your likely to get diabetes from it while the teppenyaki just taste horrible with so much ginger in it

Their sashimi is quite good where there is no ice in the meat and its quite fresh without any foul smell. Do try their yakitori, I find their chicken yakitori and beef negi perfect with their beef negi having a slightly sweet taste to mask the beef unpleasent smell that some might complain.

Their appetizer range is quite adequate to get your taste bud wanting more. Their edamame is not that salty unlike some i taste before and their octopus and jellyfish having the right seasoning without any trace of MSG. For desert, i suggest sticking with either green tea ice cream or wasabi ice cream. The chocolate ice cream is just like any normal ice cream.

I am already planning to go there again soon
