QUOTE(xuzen @ Mar 3 2015, 09:17 AM) Just to give some perspective, let's take Berkshire Hathaway for example. BH has never given distribution nor share split. Today its unit cost around USD 150.00 per share. very high right? Will put off many investors right? See the price only... turn-off liao. Totally agree.. That's human nature.. Another example, albeit a local one, is Manulife Investment Linked Managed Fund. Its NAV is RM 4.00++ per unit vis-a-vis of most UT at less than 50cts per unit. Again, it is a turn-off for most investors. So distribution is one way to bring the unit price down to "enticed" new investors. Xuzen. p/s Just my opinion, wrong or right? Is just my opinion. |

Not as rosy as painted by FHs? OR they are anticipating the crash coming?..... Asia's investment banking and equities market has led to more casualties in Singapore, with CIMB Group Holdings letting go 15 employees, including prominent economist Song Seng Wun. This follows a string of similar moves at other banks. Goldman Sachs is reportedly slashing its investment banking team in Singapore by about 30 per cent. In January, StanChart said it would cut 200 jobs, mostly in Asia, as it exited the global institutional cash equities, equity research and equities capital market businesses. More cuts could be around the corner after the bank announced a major boardroom reshuffle last week. Nomura, too, has removed 12 jobs at its Asia equities division to trim costs and focus on more profitable businesses. - See more at: http://www.straitstimes.com/news/business/...h.MCIXq6c6.dpuf This post has been edited by yklooi: Mar 4 2015, 09:29 AM Attached thumbnail(s) |

If market crash and u can afford to keep your funds for another 5-10 years, just be calm and remain invested. NEVER invest (in high risk funds) with money u need to use in the next 1-3 years |

QUOTE Dear FSM, Please let me know if my understanding is correct. Example: I'm investing RM 1000 in fund A with 0.5% Sales Charge. Sales charge = rm4.98 Add GST @ 6% = RM0.30 NETT sales charged = rm5.28 Basically the 6% is charged on any FEES imposed on the financial transactions, not the total amount of investment transaction itself. Is the above understanding correct? Thanks. Regards, Got confirmation from FSM that our understanding is correct |
