QUOTE(iskazulka @ Apr 15 2015, 07:14 PM) Nope but I have seen one other saga in our town, white as well, driven by a mature woman. The only other Protons I see are a few Jumbucks, which sadly aren't sold now, pity as for a while they were the only small sized ute on the market. |

QUOTE(V12Kompressor @ Apr 15 2015, 07:26 PM) Funny that, I've read on reviews about intrusive noise on the saga when revving high, but I'm fairly happy with it, being CVT it's very rare for me to exceed 2500 rpm, so I like a little thrill occasionally. For a deeper non-tinny sound use thicker walled plumbing, I don't think the type is as important. |

QUOTE(WTFisLYN @ Apr 18 2015, 08:53 AM) I'd say white is as good a term as any, in these parts the media use a politically correct term that I refuse to use for it.As far as I know I have Irish, Scottish and very likely some Pommy heritage, the Irish part was given a compulsory free trip to Aussie land 200 years ago, he hated the place that much that when he was free to return he instead chose to bring his wife and children here too. Fear not about me I do keep a weblog at My Weblog and any posting that I appear in will show that I'm in no way to be envied. I found this to be about the only active forum for the FLX, and I do like to share knowledge. This post has been edited by wankel: Apr 18 2015, 09:54 AM |

QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Apr 19 2015, 11:47 AM) It wasn't my choice, that's just the way things happen, maybe if I had more colour I wouldn't have a patch of Bowen's disease (some sort of minor cancer) on my face that the Doctor wants to dig out.As it is I've missed out on the tallness and slimness that people visualise when they think of Aussies, although for a long time I more than honoured our long tradition of drinking stupefying amounts of alcohol, now in abeyance due to some internal plumbing problems that involve bleeding. |

I've questions regards radiator. Seeing the pretty colourered silicone hoses available online but never mentioning Saga, would Gen2 hoses be good to use? Also is the Saga radiator common to other models?

QUOTE(davidke20 @ Apr 20 2015, 04:29 PM) Thanks David they do appear the same, including the widening on the lower hose.Daisy was quite old already when I bought her so I'll likely do a coolant change long before it's due and may buy pretty new hoses for the job. Pity I've only seen blue and red thus far. |

QUOTE(WTFisLYN @ Apr 21 2015, 06:34 AM) If I may ask did you buy Daisy not brand new? How old is Daisy? When did you buy her? What is her full model? Is Daisy a Proton Saga FLX Special Edition? Aussies have different name for Saga if I'm not mistaken. Yes I bought Daisy new but it was built in feb 2013 then has an Aussie compliance plate of april 2014 but I have to think the coolant has already had over two years of service.Daisy is what was marketed as a S16 FLX GXR, the GXR being the top range level, or at the time I suppose the bottom level as well as Daisy must have been about the last S16 sold here. Daisy has leather seats, CVT, reverse sensors which I like despite seldom hearing them, ABS and traction control which are gov mandated here now, the S4PH 1.6 engine which I'm a bit ambivalent about as I sense the 1.3 may be the better variant, radio controls on the steering wheel and USB MP3 input for the wireless which thankfully has the AM band, something I've noted is becoming rare on aftermarket units, alloy number 14 wheels with thankfully a full size spare that's becoming rare these days, air conditioning but that's standard for all cars these days. I bought Daisy in Sept 14. I prefer the name Saga over S16 so shall usually use Saga for Daisy, sometime in the future I'll likely buy a Saga badge and plonk it where the S16 badge is. |

They put on a good show. |

QUOTE(Shingkyo @ May 7 2015, 01:21 PM) Hi all, recently drove up Saga FLX 1.3 uphill to Genting from JB (as my mum car clocks only 10k after nearly 3 years (3 more mths to 3 years) so just brought it up to stretch his muscle)... Uphill... Downhill ok... On the returning trip, we stopped at Ayer Keroh (Melaka) R & R for petrol fill up. The car couldnt be started after that... Called up the usual mechanics to ask for help and bla bla bla... Approximate 30 mins later, it could be started again. Everything was back to normal. If the car is a manual then I'd be very concerned.Actually before this, on a few occasions in the past I experienced problem starting the car, it was like the first start of the car for the day, especially before noon, as soon as I cranked up the car, the car was like stuttering and panting heavily and then died off - I need to re-crank again. Back to Ayer Keroh incident, we had the car checked by Proton SC, reflash ECU as he claimed and changed the plug - which look rather oily on the thread - I dunno why. Any ideas on this problem? An old fella like me thinks of the link, Mum's car, Genting Hill, giving the car a bit of a blowing out of cobwebs by child. Suspect crankshaft cracked. |

Here demineralised water is sold in the laundry section of a supermarket, meant for filling steam irons, but it's very suited for using in cars.
Best to avoid tap or even rainwater if possible due to ph balance. This post has been edited by wankel: May 7 2015, 05:27 PM |

I'm thinking dementia with that chap's driving, it's hard to explain driving that poorly any other way.

The spec for it is ezl799, just look for a number 799 on the bottle.
I still haven't found any for sale locally yet despite a mushrooming growth of CVT transmissions. Our online oil finders here still recommend 7+ litres of dexron atf, so I suppose it's a matter of time and failures before they realise CVTs exist. |
