Either US or Asian.

I checked Wikipedia and saw that there's only 3 regions

US
Europe/Aus
Japan

by Asian I suppose you mean Japan? wouldn't most games be Japanese?

Asian is just repackaged US system that is for official distribution in this region, more specifically Malaysia, Singapore & UAE. Also, Wikipedia is wrong as there's more than 3 unique regions for 3ds

if it's a repackaged US system, does that mean that Asian consoles will be able to play US games and vice versa?

Any way of knowing which region the DS is from?

yes. they're the same system

ds is mostly region free except for dsi exclusive stuff (not that many in retail space anyway)

look at the box is the easiest imo
-if there's Japanese text = japan
-if there's pegi.info logo = pal (Europe)
-if there's for in uae, Singapore, Malaysia sticker (I think? can't remember if it's sticker or not) = us (Asian distribution)
-if age rating is in horizontal rectangle box = pal (aus/nz)
-if age rating is grey/white combo = us (non-Asian distribution)

not sure about korea, china or any other obscure regions but I guess there's their language on box = that country region console, but that's irrelevant to our market

for games, look at age rating as well.
cero = japan
esrb = us
pegi/usk/horizontal rectangle box = pal (eur/aus/nz)

but don't worry too much since most seller here sells us/Asian region console/games. japan region is 2nd and rarely you'll find ppl selling pal region other than those guys who lives/study in aus/nz coming back here and realized they can't play games bought locally laugh.gif

Some1 inform me that for region registration better use Canada - Alberta, bc won't have tax and also more games in eshop. But I buy the Dragon Quest VIII digital still got C$2.50 for the tax.

Is it true that we should avoid register Malaysia as our region since there are not many games in its eshop?

By the way, I have 2 console, can combine 1 account for both account? Or have to be separate?

For digital games, if we format/change the memory card can we still obtain the games that we bought in eshop?

Thank for the pencerahan

I remember of selecting Alaska for my previous console but after 3 years I thought perhaps there are some changes. So I ask some1 in FB 3DS group regarding which region to choose and he recommended Canada.

Yet, just found out that my CC charge Canada Dollar for the eshop transaction. I don't know the price difference of game in US and CAD eshop but I like the odds of paying CAD ~ MYR compare to USD ~ MYR rate. biggrin.gif

*just check with the both US and CAD eshop. Apparently I am paying less using the CAD + tax

tbh no idea. since Nintendo used many supplier for 3ds screen, the only way to get dual ips screen is by having some luck when buying the system. unless you can find someone with it that want to sell it

If I delete my NNI from 3DS, can I recreate a new one on the 3DS later?
