yes. in fact it's better to either use US or Canada store depending on how you would prefer to topup your credit. For US store, you can only use prepaid code as they don't accept foreign credit/debit cards but reverse situation for Canada store. There are sellers here who sells nintendo eshop prepaid code anyway.

officially supported 32gb, but higher capacity works fine w/o major problem. but if there's something happened to the sd card, they won't help much (it's not like there's official customer support here)
also, higher capacity usually comes in unsupported format, so you need to reformat it manually first (I think it needs to be in fat32? can't remember)

how long will you be staying there? without knowing that I cannot tell whether it's ok or not to grab that region unit. also, black Friday deal? lel prepare for some disappointment if you're expecting the deals to be that good. it's not US

hmm since you're only 1 year there it probably better to not buy 3ds there. if somehow you're still want to grab 1, I would suggest to stock up games before you're coming back. ebay, game, cex or amazon would be a good place to get cheap 2nd hand games. if you want new, non-2nd hand ones, take a look at sites like simplygames. avoid buying new games from highstreet stores like game since they're rarely cheap. or if you don't mind digital instead of physical, you can still buy from eshop using local card (bar card that's issued by some bank that I heard generally quite problematic with foreign/online transactions) unlike NA eshop so grab cheap large capacity sd/micro sd during black Friday or boxing day.

any gamestore should sell one i believe, or just grab usb charger from daiso. 3ds use the same charging port as dsi but not ds lite
as for pokemon, just compare which one is cheaper. pretty sure the price is about the same anyway and I don't recall seeing major retailers there having sun/moon in their black Friday deals
2nd hand games do sometimes come with old owner's save file since most of the games are saved directly to the cart bar some games like monster hunter generations that saves to sd card. not much difference, it's just whether you want the game in mint, complete in box condition vs cheaper price generally

Asian is just repackaged US system that is for official distribution in this region, more specifically Malaysia, Singapore & UAE. Also, Wikipedia is wrong as there's more than 3 unique regions for 3ds

ds is mostly region free except for dsi exclusive stuff (not that many in retail space anyway)
