hey guys..not sure whether this question been asked here before, but currently im in IT dept in local OnG company...honestly,i kinda bored with what im doing everyday in the office...doing the same IT task everyday...just want to ask either is it possible for me to change the position of where i am now to a position of which i could go to the rig etc, where i can do hands on stuff like supervise/plant inspector so that i can get my hands dirty rather than sit in the office with the qualification of what i have now?(i have a degree in IT)..,but is there any way that i could apply for a position like rig supervisor,or rig inspector etc...how?is it by taking paid courses?if its like that, than can u give the company name that provide the courses..please help me otai2...thanks

QUOTE(markkit91 @ Feb 19 2015, 05:53 AM) Hey guys, I'm a chemical grad and a DE (junior) lol. Been told chemical grads cannot join drilling, even my friend who is a DE. Proved him wrong. Just got an offer from one of the operators in Malaysia (won't say who) - my job scope is not finalized as I am joining as a freshie, however they have asked for my job preference. I'm a chemical engineer, looking for a career in the drilling & completions side of thing - is this feasible? Or is the drilling/completion side only for the mechanical and petroleum engineers Hi all. Been a while. |

QUOTE(dragonsuy @ Feb 22 2015, 06:49 PM) I am not boasting myself but I am a living proof starting from downstream (oil refinery and LNG plant), to subcontractor at Brunei who deal with BSP, subcon to fabricator, then to fabricator main con, then to Upstream PSC/RSC (ExxonMobil & Petrofac Malaysia), and now back to downstream petchem construction (Aromatics).I would prefer to be a jack of all trades - at least I can survive during this tough period of oil slump. |
