I'm still looking for an opening for Corrosion and Inspection Engineer post. Dunno why but so hard to find an opening (<3 yrs working exp) for Materials Engineer like me. Most that I could find are senior engineer posts. Any ideas on where should I start looking/applying?

For oilfield services, I see quite a few positions doing the same thing/scope of work. I’ve met a few people attending the operation morning meeting at the client office carrying title like account manager, technical sales eng/exe, business development eng/exe, and etc. Are you one of those bro?

yeah. meetings... updates. get more wells... get more jobs. layan customer... take them lunch. minum. also need to approach new/potential clients for possibility of business. Lots of presentations to do.

prefer this than stuck in office. since I used to be in the field... now still can be mobile and proactive.

Sounds interesting ! And also challenging because you're not just dealing with equipment or machines but with mostly people instead.
And yes going from field work to continuous routine grind of a desk job would be pretty rough transition. laugh.gif

Any updates on the status of O&G recruitment of interns? I heard companies will be less willing to hire due to the drop in oil prices. Any info on this?

Yes, plenty of ppl being laid off...weatherford is letting go 20% of their head count. and other companies too.

Baker is still hiring junior field engineer for some product line, but not in malaysia.

you guys can try the job sites like oilcareers and rigzone. there are plenty out there. Beautify your CV, create an account and apply away. And also update your LinkedIn profile. it helps.

What product/tools are you taking care bro?
It is always great when the tools ok but once there is a problem, you will be the first who get sh*t...worse if client not taking it or discuss it offline...

i heard pcsb plans to release one or some the rigs, is it true?

we'll more rigs going to stack this year...good business for the rig cold stacking/preservation services company and also owner of the berthing/ports...

Hey guys,
Just got an offer from one of the operators in Malaysia (won't say who) - my job scope is not finalized as I am joining as a freshie, however they have asked for my job preference.

I'm a chemical engineer, looking for a career in the drilling & completions side of thing - is this feasible? Or is the drilling/completion side only for the mechanical and petroleum engineers sad.gif

my advice would is be thankful you get a job in this current situation where almost every one is retrenching. any experience at this time in the industry will be good in the long, and not to mention a steady paycheck what ever the amount is.

I like mhyug was so very friendly responded to you, deep in my heart rclxms.gif biggrin.gif

If me, I will just straight to the point, yes only for petroleum/mechanical and not for chemical especially those who getting a job but have no idea what is the current situation of the industry he/she will be in.
If one have the heart to join oil & gas will follow up in the industry and not waiting to be spoon-fed.

Note: in oil & gas, any qualifications background with relevant experience also can join drilling and completion, production, etc as long as the supply and demand concept is being practiced by the company how urgent they require that post to be filled up as per that time of economic situation.
