already got a group, i welcome myself into this group then.
I upgraded my v Nitro by adding 128gb SSD to M.2 slot, and buy a seagate 2TB external hdd and crack it open to use for hdd part. I also open up and re-apply a thermal paste using Xigmatek thermal paste i got spare. I forgot to make some before temp. for gaming. but usually I can get around 70C for GPU now. and i dont actually like turbo boost that much coz it adds up heats and only provide some unsignificant performance boost, so i set my power profile to use 99% power to disable turbo boost. what you guys have done to your units? |

You already have the HDD beforehand is it ? because the cost of buying a hdd 2.5" 2TB is rm50 more than just buying an external hdd. i bought the external hdd around 1 week beforehand, at first i was planning to just use normal 2.5" ssd only. but few weeks after that i found a good deal for 128GB m.2 for rm220 including postage on ebay, then it all from there.the hdd it came by i put in the external hdd. i use the word crack, but not that destructive, just carefully open the external. haha. |

The things that I done to my laptop is, everytime I take a piece of unused cloth to the toilet, make it wet, go back to my room and clean my laptop up like helping a baby taking a bath.I upgraded my v Nitro by adding 128gb SSD to M.2 slot, and buy a seagate 2TB external hdd and crack it open to use for hdd part. In the comment section it says the GPU or CPU downclock itself to 800mhz is that true? |

With the fans set to maximum speed , i never exceed 65°C in GPU and 80°C in CPU that is set to run with all four cores to 3.5GHZ from intel XTU. I think that the cooling system potential on this laptop is more efficient than the one from asus G571 which is giant. I hope that was useful for those with high temp problems. Try this method.Go to your Power Options -> Change Plan Settings -> Change Advanced Power Settings -> Scroll and go to Processor Power Management -> Change the Maximum processor state from 100 to 99. This will not harm your laptop. It just let you turn off the intel turbo boost which cause the overheating. Or try the method post by chiong1983. <= Big thanks to him This post has been edited by shadowlck: Mar 10 2015, 09:54 AM |

Nice. But didn't Acer V Nitro has a settings or macro key to set the fan speed to maximum ? My Z5 has it so I use it every time I'm playing high demanding game like COD AW.
