I'm tempted by 1Gbps, but I'm trying to resist since 300Mbps for RM 129 is good enough for me. laugh.gif
*
I'm paying RM159 for 500Mbps at the moment, plus RM79 on postpaid
Gonna try getting this as I need Maxis as my VPN...
TIME's international routing at night is horrible recently

Do I really need 1Gbps? Absolutely no
Do I want it? YES

If you run on TM infra then quite impossible for Maxis to do anything. Some TM OLT are known to have speed capped for non Unifi users.
If you want to try get beyond 920mbps maybe can get custom ONU from Anime4000
*
Just wondering, it is possible to reach the beyond 920mbps with Ubnt Loco? Or the speed cap is in the OLT itself so unless it's a modified ONU you'll still be hitting the ceiling?

Tempted to switch to maxis fibre 1g promo RM159. Currently running on unifi 800mbps RM 219 monthly. So far TM offer me re-contract 24 months with 3 months bill waiver

My question is it possible to connect to maxis fiber with custom router ?since my setup now is Asus XT8 mesh. I don’t want to use their shitty router
*
Yes you can, but need to sacrifice the landline if you don't want the hassle of running the stock router just for phone

Then no reason to stop you from subscribing to it. I’m happy with Maxis fiber so far.
*
Same here, apart from the promotions...no goodies for those who are out of contract
Surprisingly Maxis's routing is better than TIME to EU sites recently, the differences is night and day...especially during peak hours

QUOTE(khainiz94 @ Jun 7 2024, 06:00 PM)
Ehhhh.
So the promo do exist.
RM99 free 6 months which I get previously.
But I still don't want to give them extra money because my 2nd home broadband is really underutilised.

So proceed with 100 Mbps 6 months free at RM89.
Ok la.
*
Yes, some of those are exclusive to the retailers before going on to the website

QUOTE(YoungMan @ Jun 7 2024, 07:53 PM)
The mod ONU can override some of the OMCY provision, quite likely you can reach that 1gb ceiling. Most even on Unifi will get around 940mbps due to device bottleneck, example 1gb lan port. Whether it is worth to try or not depend on you.
*
Probably not worth the extra spending, especially one is lacking the money for a full AP+Router+ONU setup cry.gif

Just want to ask, thinking to migrate my Maxis Home Fibre 500 Mbps at home no. 1 to CelcomDigi Fibre 500 Mbps.
Want to combine with CelcomDigi Postpaid 260.
Is it good enough for international routing to US?

Mine is 100mbps package @ RM79/month.
Rebate is RM10 and it shows as (RM x 24 mths) so if it is permanent it is abit weird.

I tried to ask in Live Chat (that redirect to Whatsapp) but it cant get a real person so i give up.

Worse come to worse if really 24 months rebate will just jump ship back to Unifi see can get what goodies.
*
I'm waiting for their marketing department to call back, but I guess they dont care about those who are out of contract... guess no promo for me

RM159 for 1 Gbps looks enticing. How about torrent, streaming, VPN clients?
Currently using Unifi and Asus tuf gaming AX4200 with custom DNS. Will I be able to setup the same with Maxis?
*
I'm on 500Mbps for 2 years now, no issue on all 3
Been torrenting a lot (1TB avg per month), using it as VPN for my TIME fibre
On an Asus AX88u with Adguard DNS

Oh yeah, something to keep in mind
Maxis is famous for treating out of contract users badly, like not providing any new promo price etc
Stablity wise all good, just dont expect frequent promo like TM

My friend had an outage few days ago, broken fiber from DP
Just now Maxis called him to check on his issue, and they're offering him RM159 1Gbps despite he is a user of both fiber and postpaid
Maxis said it is for selected customers, so if you have the option in app to grab the 1Gbps plan... Congratulations

Guess me paying monthly bills on-time since day 1 ain't good enough for Maxis to consider giving me a promo then?

Soyacincau:
Several Malaysian telcos/ISPs including TM, Time, Maxis, U Mobile and CelcomDigi have been found implementing Transparent DNS Proxy. This forces internet traffic to go through a local DNS even if you use Public DNS such as Google and Cloudflare. As a result, blocked websites are inaccessible even with Public DNS.

Time to go VPN/DNS over HTTPS

Wanna to ask 1 thing, if I switch from other isp to maxis, I need terminate manually then only subscribe to maxis, or maxis will do for us for switching from other?
*
If you terminate instead of transfer, the particular port you used will be locked
That means if that area is out of port, congratulations... you cant register for any service untill they releast the port
Dont to this, register at Maxis, get the transfer ID
They will guide you through

DO NOT TERMINATE
