Hello all, I just bought my hammies last week and I am sort of new in this stuff -> How often do you bath your hamster? And from what I know, hamster itself likes cleanliness, so from time to time, they will always groom themselves, so is it advisable to bath it often? thanks

It does more harm then good.... people may say their hamsters no probelm after a shampoo and water both but then.... can a hamster talk? No rite? Dogs and cats different coz lots of research and experiements have been done on them but not on small animals like hamsters. So do use sand bath that is specially made for hamsters. You can find it at most petshops. |

QUOTE(Yaozz @ Dec 11 2006, 10:19 PM) Well.... many said best do not spray... but what you can do is buy sandpaper, and sand paper all the rust out. Then dun use spray paint... get hold of non-toxic paint and paint back the cage.... |

Sand Bath? So, what I need to do is just buy the sand and put it in the bowl with some water. Then let the hamster inside and they will know what to do?
p.s: 01. What condition must the water be [ hot | cold ] 02. Is the sand commercially available? From what I managed to find out, Chinchilla sand is the best? Is it true? thks |

LOL
Just put the sand in a heavy bowl and put the bowl into their cage/tank. No need water. Find chinchilla sand bath, not dust bath. Some petstores have them. |

QUOTE(crazymouse_yyh @ Dec 11 2006, 01:19 AM) Some hamsters, they cannot mix at all... it is just natural. and I think it could be coz you bought them from different places? Sure fight if like that. Local or imported... mix also nothing wrong... it is just the hamsters hate each other only. So best is KEEP on seperating them. You want the hamster to be happy right? So keep them seperately makes them happier coz at peace. I see...thank you for explaining ...at first i bought one..and my hamster was all alone..i felt pity for him...i didn think of getting a pair that time because..it was my first time having hamster as a pet.Didn know much about hamsters. So,i bought one only and that one was extremely aggressive..i was rather sad at first..i couldn play with him..Petshops will always sell in a pair because they want to get rid of it fast and earn more from customers. I bought another one with the hope..he'd be less aggressive then before..instead..he never want to be friends with the other one Now..i'll hv to play separately..one outside the cage, one inside the cage I thought my hammy would be happy got a buddy but..
