Open parking under sun and rain, bantai cornering 100kmh,frequently polish/wax, can be the cause of hardening. Mileage how much on that tyre?

does not mentions harden cracks....

i been reading again and again.... read till dead end, tht y ask here.

The tire should not cracked due to hardening prematurely. Normally the shelf live for tires are 6 years. If you buy tires with manufacturing date on Jan 2000, then I think the warranty period will also no be from the date of purchase I presumed. The warranty also mentioned about climate and ozone effect. They can use this to say that the hardening was due to this factor laugh.gif

So the best is to get to Michelin authorized shop for confirmation but make sure you bought from Michelin authorized dealer in the first place or warranty not covered wink.gif

XM2 is made in Thailand and according to Michelin, it is designed for our tropical climate.

I can confirm that you are not the only one with the XM2 "micro-crack" issue. I'm having the same problem too. Googling thru the internet also will reveal that other ppl having the same problem.

i went back to the shop (not sure is Michelin authorized dealer or not) to confirm, he said harden issue is not covered by warranty.

he even said if you're go Michelin centre (should refer to Michelin authorised shop) to confirm, you will not get warranty too.

u post in their fb pages. they will ask u go find the dealer for checking.. then the dealer will "taichi" with u.. in the end, u need dig your own money for new tire.. just use for another few months.. do check the tire each time u travel for long distance. if u worry, just change the tire coz now tire price already drop.

Sudah buat 15k km rotation?yes the warranty is 6 years but most of tyre at 30k-50k mileage can be consider at the end of their comfort/perform lifespan already. U can go more than 50k km if the thread still ok but u will get heavier cornering, lose grip, and roaring/bising tyre.

This is what I said warranty statement mostly is just to attract consumer only. When it comes to compensation, they dig all kind of reasons to not paying.

I donno about warranty card but I think there isn't any. Read this statement:

Date of purchase is documented by new vehicle registration (where the tyres were fitted on a new vehicle) or original tyre sales invoice. If there is no proof of purchase, the warranty will be based on the date of manufacture.

Talk more on the new car purchased with tires. laugh.gif I think there is no warranty card given for any tire brand shocking.gif

Anyway I think the shop might not be 100% correct when saying hardening is not covered by warranty. This is a gray area. All tires can get hardened due to UV exposure, but how severe? You can probably see micro cracked on tire surface but still safe to use. Only Michelin can say how severe the crack is to justify. The shop can say whatever he likes. Most likely the person say like that to prove (by mere statement) that the shop is not cheating its customers. You can always go to authorized shop for confirmation. I don't think there is any charge in asking wink.gif

PS3 ftw lah...

40000 KM still going strong. Rotate every 8000km. Excellent grip.

If not enough budget go for Yokohama or Dunlop.

Michelin always like that. crack or outshape if you don't drive alot.
it is good if you drive with higher mileage. or 3 years kaput.
