Its pretty normal for people to pay by cash for their watches as some shops offer a cheaper price when you use cash as they do not have to pay that 3% plus of charges.

Tokyonite I only buy on credit, but when it comes to selling watches, payment is typically bank transfer. I have had a few instances with cash (risky, also I do not have a cash counting machine - so based on trust with buyer) or bank draft. I only ever hand over a watch after money is shown in my account. I've seen folks pay for their purchases in cash (saw a guy pay for his Richard Mille in cash last week), but that's an AD and not all too unusual.

Swiss Connection is legit, but may be a good idea to swing by and speak to the people there first (instead of over FB chat).

RM 30k isn't very bulky in actual. 3 bundle of 100 pcs of RM100 notes each. That's about 1 inch thickness I guess.

If no special discount for cash purchase, make the purchase with credit card and utilize the 0% installment (no admin/processing fee). Put the allocated cash into FD on 1 month maturity. Use the FD fund to pay the installment upon each monthly maturity.

Have you guys got your watches before 16 Jan? There is a 6% increment for all Rolex watches starting on 16 Jan. Even OMEGA had significant increased. I quickly snatch my Rolex GMT Master II full black ceramic bezel at Cortina Starhill Gallery(Official Rolex boutique) right before the increased. Phew..a bit regret as I should have grab the Batman version(blue & black ceramic bezel) instead. Nonetheless, I'm still happy with my watch. The GMT Master II is an awesome pilot watch and it had a great history.

Good choice. Through I may not like the Submariner Hulk but I'm pretty sure this watch will hold a very strong resale value in the future. I'm targeting for the Rolex Daytona for my 2nd Rolex

I think the Pepsi (blue & red bezel) is nicer. It only comes with white gold.

I would like seek advice for my first Rolex watch purchase.

My concern is

1) What the difference between purchase at Rolex shop found in major shopping complex compare to those shop advertise in FB? (For example: Swiss connection, Time Galaxy or Watchclub publika) Besides cheaper price...any disadvantages?

2) How do I know is the movement inside the watch not tempered or swap if I purchase from those not Rolex dealer shop? I know can send to Rolex service center for verification but what IF really found the movement has been modify....what can I do?

3) The 5 years international warranty still valid? Since the watch not purchase from authorized dealer and is a grey unit.

Anyone here have experience buying Rolex from non authorized Rolex shop in Malaysia?

To me, if you can already afford a Rolex, buy from an AD

No point saving 1-2K and worrying about it later and having that doubt lingering in your mind

Similar like buying a bespoke suit, most would like to be serviced like (a king) they are buying a Rolex
