Hello unkers and aunties!
I am uni boy here and I'm here to ask for some advice.
Anyways, basically i made some money in crypto before dy, it hit my take profit during this year march. Basically i made some money and i forgotten about it cause of exams.
As a kid going to shopping mall, I'm always fascinated by luxury watches, but no money...
Now got some cash, I wonder should I get into watches or reinvest those money into things I believe in the long-term?
I'm still studying and gonna graduate in 2 more years and this is the most amount of money I ever gotten my hands on. haha
If i were to buy, I can only afford Tudor watches that I like. Personally like pelagos and pepsi as they fit the style i like and i think they are investment watches?
1 side of brain hand a bit itchy haha, but on the other side of my brain ask me to invest into things I'm good at to make me richer next time. Maybe I should work and accumulate wealth first before spending it haha..
Also this is 100% my money, I worked for it and no parent support with my investment money as they don't believe in stocks or crypto. They only like property. So.. they also dk I got some money haha. My mom might be shocked if I buy a Tudor haha
Any suggestion for this kid here? Newbie here, any advice is welcomed.
Only you can answer those questions bro.
Watches are absolutely a hobby, treat it nothing more than that. And like hobbies, some items might get you nice returns, but most don't. You get satisfaction from it instead. I still wear my 20-year-old swatch because it was the first piece I ever bought. I doubt that is worth even RM100 but it is as fun as the BB58 I have, so prices are not an indication of anything emotionally.
If you ask me, I'd say invest it. Pelagos and Pepsi will still be there 2 years down the line, and I would think it makes way more meaning to get it as a graduation gift rather than I got it because I got money.
Secondly, I also don't believe you should "settle" for a luxury watch because it's deemed as luxury. Go to the AD or boutiques, tell the sales fella you are interest in watches and want to try on some they have. See which one you like most. If they look down on you, just walk away and go to the next one. Or let me know and I'll personally tell my guy to deal with you, can try everyone in the shop lol.
Try until you find one you really like, and get that one, either now or when you can afford it. A good watch will probably last longer than you, so do you really want something you don't really like on your wrist? Probably not.
