Speedy is at 25-28k  , so Tudor is consider most reasonable price

That's before discount la.

Owning a 20k Tudor chrono is just stupid.

Speedy is now 25k (there are very few 1861 available at old price), but OB no longer gives discount for moonwatch. And that's hessy, on sapphire is 29k. Certainly no longer cheap, but I would easily choose the moonwatch over the Tudor chrono. Easily.
*
I was thinking of the 1861, but the new ones definitely is trending higher.

OB has always been very kiam siap with discount, usually AD's the one that is offering it and I doubt many is walking to buy the Tudor from their boutique.

I just don't like the fact that the silver snoopy is a OB only edition, even my dealer can't help me with that sad.gif

But yes, there's plenty of nice looking speedy with much better horological ties at a cheaper price floating around the grey / used market that one can opt for rather than a grey Tudor chrono at that inflated prices.

Eh, did you get confirmation from your AD that Snoopy is OB only? In that sense, I think it can be a good thing (especially since Omega locally does monitor for flippers, at least for the Snoopy).

Personally, I do not think the new speedies are over-priced; instead, I think they are finally worth their coin. The improvement on bracelet and movement alone does it for me. Only "thing" is the lack of discount from OB. But if you prefer more, I am able to help -- just no OB experience and mileage.
*
That is what I was told. At least it won't be displayed in the likes of Watatime or HG etc. Whether the AD can get their hands on it is a diff question, given the murky relations between both.

But that seems to be the trend, that the brands are increasingly controling their inventory and pricing via boutique only pieces.

The bad part for me is I don't want to go 'build' a relationship all over again, as now mine comes from buying different brand and pieces from the AD. I don't want to have to buy 5 weird speedy to get a chance at the SS. Oh well...

QUOTE(selinix @ Apr 21 2021, 08:56 AM)
There is never a Tudor / Rolex boutique that exist in any part of the world.
*
The ones in Pavi and MV are considered a boutique, even if they are operated by an AD. They are not allowed to give the discounts an AD usually is able to give.

is not a boutique when it is managed by an AD, which piece you ask before that they don't give you a discount?

Which of the two boutique you got 20-25% discount from?

I have never heard any AD able to give 20-25% discount from Tudor, you have gotten them before? At least i never heard of such discount for the BB41 / Pelagos pieces..

and yes whether is boutique or AD , it is still AD, they offer the same discount back then.. hence i am asking you which piece that you ask that you are offer different discount or no discount ?
*
Yep. Pelagos used to get 18%, now I am not sure since I haven't check them in a long time. BB36 or those North Flags even better. If the Tudor outlet in PV and MV offers the same, then it's my bad.

Tudor in an AD is a very different proposition than Tudor in a boutique. I know it's not how you generally use that term, as boutique is ran by the company itself but for Tudor and Rolex, they get to dictate the terms differently.

I know Rolex clout is enough to get them to withdraw displays from an AD and park in own shop, thus being able to control and dictate the price and inventory. Tudor is moving down that path.

Omega is going to be next, as they have been slowly withdrawing it from ADs to focus on the boutiques, but for now, they don't move the market the same way that two siblings can.

My dealer was able to get me into the list in Wattatime for a Snoopy (that's what he said at least).

He mentioned that Wattatime was allocated a small number of pieces available (20+ I think) and the bulk of the pieces will be sold via the boutique.
*
Yea, I'm on the waitlist as well via my AD but I'm not giving it much thought la.

Thanks for those who advise me before. Happy to report that I finally bagged my first lux watch, Heritage BB36 today.
Definitely a new beginning and journey for me. It means a lot, and a sentimental one. Tho is not as great as what you gais own, this is definitely sweat and hard work. Will always remember this piece.

Respect this thread community.

Best part about the BB36 is you can engrave the back tongue.gif

We all have our own journey, watch collecting is definitely not about how expensive one's shit is. I still rock this piece from time to time.

Have never came across 18% though, 15% is the max i ever encounter across the board, whether “boutique” or non-boutique.
*
You also have to consider your account size. Tudor was not even a "luxury" tier brand until recently. Even last time Rolex could push 8%, then it became 6%, then it became no discount. Then it became pay extra if you want that entry level steel sub.

I used to get like 20% for Omega, but my fella can tell me slowly wait sweat.gif

Omega was 30% slightly over a decade ago, then 25% and after that 20%. I stopped collecting Omega and moved on to Rolex when they offered me only 20%...

Now you have to pay a premium instead of expecting a discount!

That’s why I cannot understand why Rolex prices kena goreng until like that. 1 million watches and still no stock for those who want them.

While AP, PP and VC annual production combined is barely even 10% of Rolex’s Annual output..
*
Because it's the most recognisable luxury brand in watches out there. Any Tom dick and Harry will know Rolex represents you made it, that's how well they have positioned themselves. Plus, the new flex culture also push them to this level. The last time I spoke to a dealer, when covid not yet hit, Chinese consumers will just come and sapu Cartier, Omega and Rolex to go back to gift it to business partners, etc. And they will consider to buy anything as long as the brand is there. So why would a dealer sell a sub to some chikai fella, when he can sell to the Chinese that buys the weird DJs, lady Omegas and whatever Cartier hacks out?

Got a big promotion? Buy Rolex.
Close a big deal? Buy Rolex.

LYN is easy example. You don't see any other luxury brand specific thread being so active except for Rolex. You wear Patek, who will even comment about it on the streets? You wear Rolex there will be a few heads turned.

The holy trinity appeals to watch community, which is still pretty small even if they can't produce enough. Even if we add in ALS or FP Journe, it's already a pretty geeky detail for those with little interest in it. So why would they spend 100k on it when they can spend 60k and get more likes.

QUOTE(infiniti123 @ Apr 27 2021, 05:47 PM)
Yes that one in kelantan also.. and I know which one you’re talking about tongue.gif  you want sub from AD? Can, but you pay me grey.
Hence really like mr friedriceman said, the obtainability of Rolex has really turn off real watch enthusiast.
Difficult to meet up with friends who just casually wants to talk about the new breitling duograph, the new citizen PRX 2021, or the new Oris brown diver Aim towards a younger lady audience.
*
You bojio only. Breitling sent me a catalogue and cash voucher for some reason so they are in my good books, but their pieces are really hit and miss especially on the sizing.

Market has gone mad and it’s not good for the long term viability of our hobby.

No need to look at LYN, even when I am walking on the streets, my TT Daytona gets a lot more stares than my other watches. So much so that I nowadays rarely wear it out anymore for fear of getting mugged.

I wear my AP out and nobody even gives a shit. They probably think that it is a Casioak or something.

The bad thing about Rolexes is that they are too high profile nowadays. Too many influencers flexing Rolexes which makes it the number one target for muggers.
*
The boring old Explorer 1 I have is now being sold by others for 50k. Simply because it got discontinued despite I'm sure hundreds of thousands floating around somewhere still.

It's madness indeed.

Yea, was talking to a friend about the irony of his GMT Master not being used when he travels due to the free of being robbed in overseas.

Hard but more possible than the subs and DJs.

The Exp1 also similar. TT one much easier put it's a premium on a fugly piece.

No list lah. It’s evaluated on the fry. Some people spend over $200k on Hublot and IWC within a few months but still no call for Submariner yet.

You just need to go in and have a chat with them. No need to buttkiss. Just appear like a genuine buyer.
*
Got list. You just need to make a deal with the sales rep and get the confirmation post his discussion with whatever management.

Then you just wait the "next shipment".

My Exp1 was a couple of months after I asked for it.

zzzz the prices of rolex watches are beyond crazy now. even OP's resell prices are jumping up to double and more

now in the process of getting a new home so money's all tied up... otherwise i'm already considering getting a Moonshine Gold Speedmaster over the DD's liao. can't even find any in stores nowadays. at least the Speedy they still got stock if i wanted one.
*
The 39mm Exp1 is being asked at 40k.

That's the same retail for the TT 36mm, and the Sub.

It's basically insane.
