Totally agreed, I made the same mistake. Better remove it asap.

I allowed it grow into a ball. When it was too big, I tried to trim/remove it. And it spread all over the tank, and I cannot get rid of it. It grows wherever it likes, and now every week I have to pull it out of the carpet grass.
*
Look at the amount of riccia i pulled out from my tank.😨

Thanks.
You mean the Assassin snail will eat other snails? Will the Assassins breed in freshwater aquariums or lay eggs in the tank?
*
Assassin snails will eat ALL other snails. Be it those pest snails, ramshorn snails or other nerite snails will be attacked and eaten by the assassin snails. Not too sure they'll breed or not.

My 4 cooling fan is constantly turned on and I'm getting 26-27C during the day and 25-26C during night. However, the evaporation is crazy where I need to top up about 1-1.5 litres of water a day.

I'll be away for a week and no one will be at home to top up water for me. I will have no choice but to turn off the fan to ensure there's as little as possible evaporation.

Question is, will my plants melt within that 1 week if the temperature goes up to about 28 - 29C?

Have anyone tried schooling the same fish species but from different breeders or shops?

E.g. 10 neon tetras from shop A and 10 neon tetras from shop B. Will the 20 neon tetras school together or will they separate into two schools of 10s?

well I dont have any personal experience with these large numbers, but so far I've purchased my fishes in small numbers at a time. they are schooling alright. ^^

QUOTE(davido @ Jul 26 2016, 09:05 AM)
Yeah I did this with Green Neons and Chilli Rasboras from different shops. They school as one.
*
QUOTE(tehoice @ Jul 26 2016, 09:52 AM)
yup, dont think that's an issue. i didnt buy from separate shops, bought some number of tetras from one shop then my friend gave me like 20 pieces of tetras again. and they are cool. so no issue.
i think this can be done easily, i've seen may does it. but how much is the refurbishment cost?

don't buy aluminum type la, get those cheaper ones, serve the same only also.
*
Cool cool.

On a side note. Does anyone knows how to bring out the red color in fishes? I have a school of dwarf rasboras. The red color in them looks pale.

I had cherry barbs last time but they're not shrimp friendly. I bought like 20 cherry shrimps and dumped them into my tank. Those cherry barbs had them for supper and breakfast. Those red cherry barbs are males, those brownish ones are females.

When you first bought it, it should be quite pale yeah? That's what I always see in the first shop. Until you put it in planted tank and well fed, it will become redder, and even redder when it's ready for mating.

I used to have them as well, I like how they always swim through holes and plants to find food, which is dangerous for baby shrimps.
*
Usually in the shop, they're stressed and they'lll look pale. After a few days or maybe a week, it'll turn full red. Like this ---> mad.gif
Cherry barbs are fun to watch when they're schooling but they're not really shrimp friendly. I've even seen them nibble on my HCs before. ranting.gif

QUOTE(usmanjailani @ Jul 26 2016, 03:12 PM)
yup..quite pale in their selling tank..but in the shop display planted tank its look really healthy..will try to introduce cherry shrimps if my shrimp tank is over populated..
*
Cherry shrimps and cherry barbs does not mix. I've seen my cherry barbs attacking my amanos before too.

some sort of snail. i got them in my shrimp tank too. it wont really be a troublemaker. just sweep them up and wipe away when you change water weekly

I usually just squeeze them dead with my tweezers and my shrimps are very happy to feast on them. Haha

i got tis in the pic co2 solonoid and 2.8L co2 tank

left side indicator 0, right side is 50, what it mean?
does it mean empty soon, my 1st time read this indicator

If I'm not mistaken, left gauge means the pressure within the tank. Right gauge means pressure coming out from your regulator. So if your left gauge is 0 means your tank is empty already. Please correct me if I'm wrong. smile.gif

I am facing this issue also and reading from internet really makes you headache... If it's on your hairgrass, yes, you can just trim the top part. Mine is stucked on my driftwood and moss... Some ppl suggested higher CO2, some suggested using seachem phosguard, some said h2o2..  rclxub.gif

I've read some online too. The really foolproof way is to dose excel. However, the measurement must be correct or it'll affect your fishes and shrimps. sad.gif

Just realised my floating flame mosses and xmas mosses are infected to BBAs too. Can I remove the mosses and quarantine in another tank and dose hydrogen peroxide?

For jhg, i'll just trim those affected.

Thoughts?

*edit, any idea where can I get hydrogen peroxide around KL?

Need some advice guys. I think my co2 diffuser is leaking and am planning to buy a new one. Is it worth it to buy the bazooka diffuser with super fine bubbles? Its like 60bucks for the diffuser and you'll need to get the special high pressure bubble counter also. All in all need to fork out about 100+

Advice please folks?

Hi bro, my bazooka also leak.. You said you think yours is leaking. How can you not know for sure if its leaking? You can see the bubbles if its leaking. I can see a small bubble leak on the tube joint connecting to the bazooka - but too lazy to fix it, so I'm living with it tongue.gif

You can consider "co2 inline atomizer". Try to google that. I used it last time, and had good results in terms of maintenance (almost never cleaned) and its performance and trouble free.
*
Umm. i can literally see rough bubbles coming out from the side of the diffuser. Well cheap diffuser la. Got it for like rm20 i think. Was thinking of inline diffuser too. Shall look around if there's a good deal smile.gif
