Any small DBKL fish to recommend? Together with my guppy and tetra. Thanks.
*
Otocinclus catfish is my favourite with small fish. Otherwise most corys will do fine.

I had one of this in my 10GL, should i got 1 more, since i hate to see the alga on my plant.
*
With a 10 gallon tank, I think you can get another 2 more otos. But whether they eat your algae is another thing. If you overfeed your fishes, they will rather eat fish food than algae.

QUOTE(hkpoh @ Sep 11 2017, 04:27 PM)
The tank located at the corner of my house, where it will get moderate sunlight, but I have my LED light on for 24x7, Non air-con room, and I am using HOB type.
*
With 24x7 lighting I think your fish never get to sleep and your algae will bloom like crazy. laugh.gif I think most people turn on their lights for 6-8 hours per day.

I wanted to get the smallest catfish possible. My local shop sold me black color catfish. He told me itis the smallest already. Itis big. What is the smallest type actually?
*
What's a black catfish? Bandaraya kah? laugh.gif

Most will agree otos are one of the smallest catfish and quite readily found. Even smaller is pygmy cory but they are very rare and quite expensive.

Shit... I bought 3 of this fish.... In my 10 gallon tank..
*
Hahahaha. This one is our common bandaraya fish. In some ponds they can grow up to 1.5 ft long. rclxms.gif

Maybe you can take them back to the shop and ask to exchange for some tetras. Just say the fella attack your goldfish or something. Hahaha.

Sifus.

For 2 ft x 1.5ft x 1ft is it consider overstock with

10 Neon Tetra
10 Bloodfin Tetra
10 Pygmy Corys
5 Otos
A few Nerites and Horn Snails

Please advise
*
Got any photos of your tank to share? Very curious to see how crowded it is with that number of 35+ fish and snails.

My friend told me for Guppies and Tetra, I dun need to have any filter...
So I just a very cheap filter from China, [attachmentid=9129052]
And i bought 2 sponge filters and also a duo-pump, on delivery. I am very new to fish hobby..
Please 'scold' me for any mistake. smile.gif
*
Cheap filter better than no filter. If your sponge filters are on the way, you can change to this when you receive them.

I use a HOB filter and only turn it off once a month to give it a wash. Apparently it's not good to turn off your filter for long periods as your beneficial bacteria will start to die and disrupt your tank's nitrogen cycle.

Sifus, any specific name for the black color catfish that I own? They seem do nothing and only stick on my glass.
..

*
I think it's called the common pleco or suckermouth catfish. But all LFS will know what you are referring to when you tell them ikan bandaraya. laugh.gif

QUOTE(skumara @ Sep 20 2017, 03:30 PM)
yes i mix anti chlorine to the new water in the pail first and than leave it for 5 minutes. than only use it to change water from the fish tank.

on the first time change water i change only about 30% fish tank water.
on the second time change water (4 days later) i change almost half of the tank water. I though the fish died on the first time because too much toxin in the water. so this time I change a bit more water. I use tap water which has a water filter outside of the house.
*
Maybe you can try to age your water for at least 24 hours before you use it to change your tank water. Fill the pail with tap water, add anti-chlorine and leave it for 24 hours (some people will even recommend that you aerate the water with a pump too).

See if that will help.

I did not cycle my tank as well, now i am doing frequent water change with HOB filter and sponge filter installed. Will reduce the water changing to once a week in future.

Btw, is it OK for me to off the sponge filter every night? and On it back in the morning? The main HOB filter will remain on for 24 hours.
*
Why would you want to switch off the sponge filter leh? hmm.gif
The more filtration you have, the cleaner your tank water will be. Unless your filters are creating tidal waves in your tank and your fishies cannot get any rest. Hahaha.

Thanks for the info. Thinking to get ember tetra, any suggestion on similar size or smaller fish?
*
If you want to cycle the tank, just go for cheap fish like your ember tetra or cherry barb or maybe even longkang guppies. After cycling the tank, you can start looking at more exotic small fish.

Just putting in 7 tiny neon tetra into the planted tank. They look very scare and keep hiding inside the gravel.. I will monitor it for a few days.
Do give me any suggestion. Thanks.
*
They just shifted home. It's stressful for them. Give them a couple of days to adapt to the new environment.

Last week I bought an assassin snail.

Every morning I wake up and switch ON the light. So many others snail floating at surface and side glass. Tiny little snails. Baby snail I guess so.

I need to collect and buang all the snails.

Where they came from ahh??

hmm.gif  hmm.gif I think the assassin snail do his job effectively hunt all other snails.
*
Your assassin snail is doing an excellent job then. rclxms.gif

Your tank must have a lot of pest snails that you cannot spot. Probably came from your plants.

My tank 2.5 feet...1 assassin snail enough to cover?

Very funny...all snail were scared from eaten by him and just floating/playing at surface.  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif

ranting.gif Last week I was tired trying to catch CAE and now catch snails.
*
I have 2 assassin snails in my 1.5 feet tank. I had a lot of pest snails and the 2 assassins tapau all the pests in 2 days. I think it's fine if you have 1. Your pest snails can run but it will hunt them all down eventually. laugh.gif

My current led light is blue and red, look great for my 10 gallons tank. Just upgraded 22 gallons and now the lighting became very dim.

Btw, sifus, I will be away from home for 3 days. Should I keep my Led light on for 24 hours or keep them in the dark?
*
If you leave your LED light on for 3 days, be prepared to battle algae when you get home. laugh.gif
And if you leave your tank in the dark, your plants will suffer.
Why not just get a timer switch that you can use to control your lighting especially if you don't have anyone to help you turn on/off your light for you?

My aquarium has no more plant for more than 3 months. I failed to tk plant and fish in 1 tank. :S.
But my Cory and Oto are still surviving. Any plant that easy to tk with normal lighting?
*
Sorry, I'm not very familiar with plants but I know some easy to grow ones like java fern, Amazon sword, anubias nana, wisteria and I think some crypts are easy to keep with fish and normal lighting.

Probably someone else who is more familiar with plants can advise you better.

That is very far from PJ. I can try posting using PosLaju. Should be fine (I think) cause I bought plants from Penang seller using PosLaju before.
How much do you need? I have extra gravel and sand like below:

Dwarf hygro can grow well in gravel without CO2? I'm looking for some easy to grow plants that can thrive in gravel.
