My water temp is around 28-30. Christmas moss is growing very well. From 3 small patches to 5 big patches. Riccia fuitan is doing fine too.

hmm, not really, it makes the tank looks like bubble wonderland. See if I can take some photos and post it up later. Riccia fuitan looks great though.

Here you go, Riccia Fuitan and Christmas moss. Believe it or not, I didn't buy the riccia fuitan, it came along with xmas moss, it was just a tiny stem that I didn't aware. I cut and threw it away once but it grew back so I decided to keep it. It's about 1.5 months old now. I think I should propagate it into another bush of fuitan.

I assume you are using EI method, I'm using this calculator as guideline:

hmmm, Hemianthus callitrichoides 'Cuba' is called 迷你矮珍珠。
http://baike.baidu.com/view/2429966.htm

I'm pretty sure 新大珍珠 is MC, because it looks like HC but with bigger leaves, that's how it was named.

And... I've a feeling that yours is neither. Sprout from seed, it could be a type of seaweed seed that popular in mask (海藻面膜籽), I've read it from somewhere before, fast to grow and form a carpet, but then it will grow into a different plant afterward. It's the fastest way to form a carpet though but you will need to trim it because they don't crawl but keep growing up. That's what they said tongue.gif

I could be wrong but do keep us updated smile.gif

海藻面膜籽, I read it from a china planted tank forum, someone did that. It will form a carpet real fast, but it will continue to grow larger leaves. It grows vertically, so don't expect it to crawl like MC and HC. They said just trim it to keep it low, but noone knows how long it can survive.

Well, I'm using a canister filter with built in UV light though. The UV light is covered hence it will not affect the biological filter. I read that UV light only works to eradicate green water algae, which I have not observed in my tank but my tank does have other kinds of algae growing...
*
Does you tank has the green dust algae? The one stick on tank glass.

i has it

anyway to prevent it?
*
Me too, I did blackout one, and it worked for a week, then it comes back again. But I only did one cycle, usually requires 2-3 or more cycles to clear it depend on the severity.

UV is one of the way to remove it.

They will do just fine without light for a few days, no co2 and no nutrient. Usually WC, 3 days black out, WC, 3 days light, and repeat 2-3 times. It's quite effective to remove algae. Algae takes light to grow, without it, it will starve to death.

Can't be removed with brush?

Before blackout, you need to remove as much algae as you can. Trim leaves with algae, brush glass and tube. Then black out for 3 days, pitch black, you can feed if you want but not sure if they can see it. After 3 days, do a 50% WC, light on, crank up co2 and dose nutrient. Repeat.

with shrimp, it's a bit risky. Sensitive creatures.

How big is your tank? If it's small, use those small hose attach to the card/toothbrush with rubber band, so it sucks out the algae when your scrap it, otherwise they will stick back. Do a WC afterward.

Then do 30% WC daily/alternate day to remove algae zoospores (which will turn into algae).
