Treats + vitamin supplement. The "stick" type treats, cats takes time to get used to it. Same with the vitamin supplement. I just put it together with kibbles.

Hi. I got 2 cat. MJ and SITI. Both 4 years old female. They never seperate. But last week siti stay at vet. About 1 weeks. Now MJ very garang to siti. Always sembur2. Its normal? Its because siti smell different after stay at the vet?

Most likely. Some cats show this behavior while some other cats are the opposite. The latter usually get along well with "stranger" pets/people. Don't worry they will get along again, just needs time. If they become physical, you should consider temporarily separate them but make sure they still can smell each other.

I tried feed my cats with raw minced beef meet a couple times. Some did eat while other refused. Also I found they like the ones frozen (not minced) over the ones from pasar malam. Of course the frozen beef meat, I thawed it first & cut it myself. I feed 30g of beef meat for a cat. I just average my cat's weight to 3kg.

BTW, you use dehumidifier or similar right? I don't know what it called, the ones that taking care of dust & cat's fur. I think it was you if I'm not mistaken. I have a couple of questions.

no not me. i dont even hv ac @ home. cats live separate frm hoomans.

but i think those air filter can only suck in particles in the air, so those oredi landed on surfaces, wont get filtered.
cat fur notorious for sticking everywhere..

This is my personal experience on bringing my cats to a government vet hospital for vaccination and spay surgery. I hope that it can help people as finding articles on government vet clinic or hospital is diffcult. This place is Hospital Veterinar Cheras/ Wilayah Persekutuan. The operating hours are only on weekdays and working hours can be short, but the fees here are cheaper than if I were to go to a private vet to have their treatment done. This will be beneficial to those having a few pets and are worried of the cost will add up and be a burden. Pet treatment like vaccination, spay and neuter, microchip and any procedures are slightly more affordable here. Especially those with many cats, where the cost will add up to a big amount. Hope my entry about bringing my cats to government vet will help those that struggle with the costs.

Yeah, private can be very expensive to most people. The low cost at gov clinic definitely helps. All my cats are neutered at gov clinic. However, they usually lack of equipments like for running test (blood, urine, etc). Probably at HQ but not at district branches.

better close windows, cos outside air will add more contaminants + air movement will kacau the machine working.

Yeah gov vet definitely more economical for students like me, HAHA! I've been to UPM hospital vet, which costs a bomb. Near to 1k for treatment of a bad abscess case of my friend's cat.

Just want to add. This 4 in 1 vac for cats, the pricing for private clinics, starts @ RM 40 as well,
some 45, some 50, NEVER is RM80 just for 4 in 1 jab.

Maybe tht RM80 charged on your cat is including extra jab for FELV, cos tht is the price that i pay @ private clinic
for 4 in 1 plus FELV.

The deworming pill Drontal Plus, u can buy yourself @ RM5 each, that is the cheapest that you can get.
so RM5 + RM40 = RM45. which is equal to the jabatan veterinar charge.

Some clinic in klang valley, that support TNR, do offer lower spaying/neutering fees, to encourage ppl to neuter/spay cats n dogs,
for cats spay = rm90, neuter RM70, this is the cheapest one can find.

another difference is, the jabatan veterinar still 'insists' ? cats n dogs to be vaccinated first at least 2 times? before spaying/neutering.

where as private clinic that support tnr, do give option to 'immediately' spay/neuter the cat/dog with optional vac,
because, for ppl tht do rescue it is critical to operate first, cos they might not able to catch the dog/cat again.
so this part is very important.

You wana catch 3 times just for vac + finally spay+neuter, that is months apart already.

Do share the name of those vets that you found cheaper and also the pricing so that members can benefit from it. I am hoping also to find a cheaper vet to sent my cats to.

Private vets that offer immediate spay or neuter probably do not want to lose out on their business or customers. However that might not be the ideal way or at least the safer way.

Probably the requirement to vaccine first before spay and neuter is part of their sop, maybe to decrease the chances of contacting a viral infection which would render the spay or neuter surgery pointless. Or it may be a government thing so that they can earn a little more from each pet. I do appreaciate that at least my pet is used to the vet setting after few times going for vaccination, and on the day of the surgery they might be more comfortable as they are used to the place.

No, both not true, .

vac 1st then s/n is normal vet procedure. Not bcos they wana earn extra by insisting hv to vac first.

The thing is, many people would not wana spend $$ to vac the dog/cat. If you can get them to spend some $$ to s/n it is very good already, and s/n is 'more' important.

I live in a kg where plenty of dogs roam around, n i can assure tht none was ever vac. But many still can live many years n breed twice a year. These are not pets, ppl keep them for guarding homes etc. Many ppl tht keep d/c as pets also dont vac cos of $$ even just rm40.

Because the cost can be high if they were to vaccine and spay. Anyway those at your kampung keep their dogs without license, and its just probably a mixed breed mongrel.

Having said that, we should not neglect the importance of vaccination, apart from spaying and neutering. Most cat owners keep their cat inside their house or even in their room. This relationship is more intimate, and of course we wouldn't want them to get any infections, which would take in even more money to treat.

no one is saying vac is not important / or neglecting it.


but getting ppl to s/n is more important for those tht believe in keeping the stray population down.

of cos i noe it is mix breed n mongrels. it is not bcos its mongrel it is ok to not vac.
it is to prevent the dogs from breeding n add more strays / homeless dogs.

i jz collect kitten frm vet today. n i heard the vet recommend the couple to vac the kitten they brought in for s/n.
but the couple refused, saying they need to spend on other kittens as well.

if every vet insist tht kitten needs to be vac first. then ppl like them wont bother to contribute to s/n cats n dogs.

I agree that the ultimate goal is to spay and neuter stray dogs and cats to keep the stray numbers in control. It is good that people are getting more aware and are bringing their pets in for treatment.
