Anyone playing Dirt Rally and get inconsistent GPU usage or fluctuating clock speed? I know it's still in early Alpha, just wondering if anyone else experienced the same.

Meh, rally stage problem. No problem with other stages and since this game use Codemaster old engine i have no trouble maxing it out @1080p60 with downclocked 290x.

Guys, some interesting reading here. It's a much more civilized thread about AMD graphic higher CPU overhead in DX11 and some glimpse of DX12 benefit for AMD GCN GPU.


I only install graphic driver and CCC anyway.

Although 144hz panel but the Freesync range only from 35hz to 90hz. I'll wait longer.
Also, Catalyst haven't support Freesync in CFX yet.

So guys, if you planning to play pCars with your AMD card right now don't bother. I don't know what Slightly Mad did for the past 2 months when they announced the 2nd delay to "polish" the game but the it is unplayable right now compare to older build. Wait for the game update or new driver.

That just proved that Nvidia card get stellar performance because they ran Physx thru GPU instead of CPU like AMD cards and you can't disable it in game.

This fixed the bugged with Benq Freesync monitor, that's all.

The performance issue for AMD GPU is because of higher CPU overhead which is non-existent in console because they use low level API.

Have you seen Driveclub for PS4? It's so freaking beautiful and this is running on low end AMD aPU + buffed up HD7850.


In the end it's all about optimization which SMS did nothing for Radeon GPUs same goes to AMD team just yet and i bet they working on it.

Dirt Rally.. i was pushing hard and then the front suspension broke/explode, co-driver moment of silence then continue reading the pace note.

So i ended up maxing AA in Project Cars, the only option that actually taxing my GPU. Not post-aa.
Night race + thunderstorm only give me 30fps though. lel

You should be able to max it out since it use Codies old engine EGO 3.0, not the new EGO 4.0 in F1 2015.

When 960 outperform 780 in 1080p. They even nerfed their older card for extra sales.

Just pop your 960 back in to play pCars, it's better than 780.
