my current rig
CPU: i3 4150
RAM: Kingston HyperX fury 1600mhz 8gb single
Mobo: MSI B85-G43
PSU: Aerocool KCAS 600W 80+ Bronze
GPU: Saphhire R9 270 2gb OC with boost
Chassis: Thermaltake Versa H25

What component should I upgrade? currently on my full hd monitor .. atleast I wanna to play current gen games like shadow mordor on high setting.. ( I dont tested it yet but from light reading i think my gpu is up for the task but just wondering whether my cpu can)
*
You would want at least i5 for 2014 to current games. Games are demanding more CPU now.

Thank you for the help, and sorry to bother you. The dvd writer part is i'm unsure of because i'm inexperienced at computer building. Can you please recommend one to me thanks.
*
Just buy any brand. It makes no difference now.
QUOTE(DjK @ Jan 14 2015, 11:50 PM)
Btw, any particular reason for the H97 chipset? I was thinking of the B85 vanguard from asus..looks good with heat sinks...
also, are M-ATX chasis like the bitfenix prodigy unnecessary?

thank you
*
4 RAM slots for that H97 board. More expansion slots.

You will need to change the motherboard to M-ATX for Bitfenix Prodigy M.

Yeah, you can go B85 Vanguard if you want that instead.

Btw is there any alternative graphic card for nvidia ?

Typo on the RAM price, it's RM134. 8GB is RM249.

You can find Leadtek GTX760 at RM749 from Viewnet. Or, Gainward GTX970 reference at RM1099 from Idealtech or lingloong.

Hi there all! Would need some help on this!
Budget around RM3,000

Purpose I am a multimedia designer so I do quite a bit of video editing and web programming. I also do a fair bit of programming for web and interactive installations.

Monitor resolution Maybe one 23" 1920x1080 monitor

Games & software that use frequently a whole bunch of Adobe products from Adobe illustrator & photoshop to Adobe Premiere Pro & After Effect. Adobe dreamweaver and Adobe Flash for coding.

Personal preferences Would prefer to have a setup with a bunch of storage and also SSD to run the software.
THANK YOU GUYS SO MUCH! smile.gif

I might go with the msi H97M-G43 if available...also, would you recommend water cooling or there's too much pump failures to justify its reliability? on the cheaper side..air cooling seems to be the way to go, do you have any recommendations? thanks thumbup.gif
*
Try Coolermaster TPC-812 from Sri Computers at RM159. Noctua NH-D15 at RM369 from Viewnet if you wanna max out.

QUOTE(PowerGadget @ Jan 16 2015, 12:22 AM)
Cooler master V750 still recommended? As I searched through the google,is it not the V700 that by seasonic. Quite misleading though.

Thinking getting the V750 for gtx970 sli. Is it a green light or a nono? X-650 seemed to be a little too high price..
*
V750 Semi-modular is ok. The reason why Seasonic X-650 is higher because this is Tier 1 PSU. V750 Semi-modular is Tier 2. Tier 1 has the best performance and quality of the parts inside.

Issit i have other choice for ssd brand or intel is already good enough for my rig
*
Yes, you can pick other SSD you like. Intel 530 has 5 years warranty. It all depends on your preference. Do you want more speed or better grade hardware? The rest of the SSDs around Intel 530 price is 3 years warranty and comes with lower grade hardware but faster speed.

V750 and V700 not the same. V700 is under seasonic OEM.
*
Actually, any V Semi-modular series is not Seasonic built. They are built by Enhance. Still a good OEM.

Malaysia do have:
CM V700 (EOL)
CM V750S
CM V750

the first is Seasonic OEM, and 2nd and 3rd are another.
*
Yup, first is full modular as well. The semi-modular series can be confusing because you get different model numbers.

Hi sifu,

I currently have

Phenom II 955 BE
Radeon 4890
4x2 ram
1tb hdd
750 PSU

Would it be wise to add a SSD and change my graphics or should I change my board and processor?

I'm thinking of getting a gtx970

Will be playing farcry, call of duty and dragon age, on 1080 resolution
*
Definitely time to change your graphic card. You can get third party heatsink and overclock your CPU as well. Once you touch the motherboard, go for i5 or better.

Not bad. With PC hardware prices rising due to US dollar hike, it is getting "cheaper".
