This is my current rig:

i5 2500K
P8Z68-V Pro - on board audio is faulty (using xonar usb sound card)
2X2GB RipjawsX RAM
Sapphire HD6790 - currently faulty
Intel SSD 320 40GB w/ Spinpoint F1 1TB
Corsair HX650 650W PSU
LG IPS236V Monitor
CM HAF 912 Advanced

Medium gaming + movies
Also, I wanna change that 40GB SSD into a bigger capacity.
need some suggestion for upgrades within RM1.5k —RM2k  icon_question.gif
or maybe make a new build altogether since the mobo's on board audio is faulty!? hmm.gif
*
Try these

Intel 530 240GB SSD - RM449
MSI GTX970 4GB DDR5 OC - RM1259
Asus Xonar DX 7.1 sound card - RM289

RM1997 total (Viewnet prices)

Sound card with hardware acceleration is still better than onboard.

He could have opted with a Pentium G, and use the remaining for a SSD.  For word processing, I think a SSD would be a far better choice over a powerful CPU+HDD. icon_idea.gif

GTX970 not gonna bottleneck my current rig? 'cause my mobo PCI 2.0. Is it enough for my current RAM 2x2GB?
*
Nope. PCIE 2.0 won't bottleneck GTX970. You will be more worried about games that is CPU hungry though.

Yeah, you might wanna increase your RAM in the future.

Hi,

I have a very limited budget to replace some component of my old CPU.
Which option is better between these 2:

Core i3 4150 3.5 GHz (non-OC)
Asrock  H81M-HDS
HyperX Fury 1600 MHz 4GB

*i3 come with hyperthreading (4 thread) but non OC. It can fully utilize the speed of the RAM.

VS

Pentium G3258 3.2 GHz (OC capable)
Asrock  H81M-HDS
HyperX Fury 1600 MHz 4GB

*G3258 is capable for OC and i have an after market CPU cooler (means I will OC it for sure). But the speed of the RAM will be max at 1333 MHz.

Of course the G3258 build will be a bit cheaper, but is it worth to spend about RM1++ for i3?
My purpose is just for surfing, watching and streaming hd movie and some casual gaming
*
Option 1 still have better value due to increasing number of apps and games utilizing more threads.

The only reason why I got G3258 is I wanna play around with it. Didn't plan to go heavy.

*
Add Intel 530 120GB SSD to your build. Should be around RM260. Also, add another 4GB RAM.

Nothing else to improve unless you replace your parts.

Hard to recommend when there is no budget limit. Try Dell E2414H 24" at RM569 from Viewnet.

No difference. Intel's QC is high.

You will be more worried about games that is CPU hungry than CPU bottleneck. RM500 GPU will be around the same as GTX660 by the way.

Need help from the sifus here. Switching back from Xbox360 to PC gaming because I realize my favorite games are best played using a mouse. My last rig was 9 years ago (P duo core!!) so not worth a mention. Using company laptops since then.
