hi guys here's my current rig

Proc: i3-3220
Mobo: P8H61-M LE
ram: 4g
Gc: 6850hd
psu: 550w
monitor: u2312hm

i started to notice some new game look fugly now and sluggish too.
do you reckon i could keep this mobo if i wanna upgrade? i'd like a medium rig
mainly for gaming and recording video
budget as lowest as possible..

thanks
*
Games these days utilizes more CPU power. You can try upgrading your GPU to R9 280 (RM759 for Sapphire at C-Zone) or better first.

It is i7 in disguise with slightly slower speed without built-in GPU.

[Budget]
RM2000 max but willing to cough out more for higher performance.

I preferred a mobo with space for upgrade.

Thanks in advance. biggrin.gif

That's healthy. Blizzard games favors Intel and Nvidia. Starcraft II loves better CPU.

How about these?

Xeon E3-1231 V3 - RM829
Coolermaster Hyper 212X - RM149

Hi.. you said uses more cpu power but wants me to upgrade gc first?
so my cpu is still valid this days?

for gc i was thinking r7 260 or something in between RM500 with 2gb ram

thanks
*
2014 games to current demands a lot of CPU. Not recommended to stay with i3.

R7 260 is no longer enough for 1080p high settings. Upgrading GPU is recommended.

QUOTE(Kensu @ Jan 9 2015, 03:41 PM)
After reading all the recommendations from sifu,

Core i5-4460
Asrock H97 Pro4 motherboard
Kingston 8GB DDR3-1600 x1
Leadtek GTX970 4GB DDR5 Hurricane
WD Blue 1TB Hard Disk
Seasonic M12 II Evo 620W power supply

** Casing, DVD Rom will be reused)

The following I still cannot decide:
1) Crucial 256GB MX100 or Plextor M6S 256GB
2) Dell E2414H (many sifu recommended this monitor, but it is a TN panel) or Benq EW2440 (VA with thin bezel) or got other recommendation

* S2340L is not to my preference..too reflective.

Hope sifu can comment on the above. Thank you
*
I favor longer lasting hardware. Intel 530 240GB is at RM479.

Better monitors comes at a price. Dell U2414H is around RM830 at Techview or garage sales.

Sorry tristanx, failed to get anything so I went home to survey again. Didn't went to cycom to enquire yet.

I am trying to get everything from the same shop but most of the GPU are sold out.
One of the guy recommended me MSI GTX970 oc for RM 1249 (the only gtx970 model that have stock). Is it a good card or should I try to get the graphic card from other places?
*
MSI is fine. It is also factory overclocked.

QUOTE(sunblaze @ Jan 11 2015, 02:48 PM)
Ok you system builder sifus. Looking for a new PC, including monitor but excluding keyboard and mouse (since I have those).

Purpose: Gaming @ 1080p with Ultra settings @ minimum 60fps *today*.
Additional considerations:
1) Want a PC that can run reliably for the next 3-5 years. Obviously as newer more demanding games come out over time it's possible that I might need to eventually drop from Ultra to High settings to maintain 60fps minimums or get a new GPU in say 3 years time, that is fine. GPU upgrade is easily done and less troublesome than a CPU/MB upgrade.
2) Want a good 24inch monitor that is good for gaming (e.g. 120hz and <5ms response time? or Gsync? Not sure which is more important, please advise). 27inch is too big for my liking. 1080p is good enough as a result.
3) Budget: Am overseas (Australia), so budget calculations are a bit..... different? Let's say around RM5-6k range including a good monitor, but if you say +RM500 will offer a huge improvement (e.g. the next tier CPU/GPU/monitor) then I'll give it serious thought since I want this rig to last well.

Thanks happy.gif
*
120-144hz and Gsync monitor with 6k budget? Not gonna happen. Too demanding with the budget you have.

Core i7-4790K - RM1159
Noctuc NH-D15 heatsink - RM389
Gigabyte Z97X Gaming 5 motherboard - RM559

MSI GTX970 4GB DDR5 OC - RM1249
Intel 530 120GB SSD - RM259
WD Blue 1TB hard disk - RM174
DVD writer of your choice - RM59
Seasonic X-750 power supply - RM629
Corsair Carbide 400R case - RM329
Dell U2414H 24" monitor - RM899

RM5954 total (Viewnet prices)

Thanks!

Some curious questions about the rig you listed:
1) Assume the rig is chosen for overclocking power since the CPU is a K variant and the D15 is included, roughly how much of an overclock would you guesstimate could be achieved while remaining safe/stable over the long run?

2) The Dell monitor looks like amazing value for money for an IPS panel, but does the 8ms response time make a noticeable difference for gaming? A lot of the stuff I hear about "gaming displays" (e.g. 2ms response time, 120-144hz, even Gsync) is news to me, so I'm wondering if it's a "night and day" kind of difference or just "it's nice if you have it, but you might as well wait 1-2 years for prices to drop since it's not a huge difference" kinda thing?

I'll skip the Asus display, while the specs look amazing 27inches is too big for me and the price premium is a bit too brutal  biggrin.gif

Not gonna OC, and just for gaming.

Might upgrade the whole rig in 5-6 years, if that plays a factor

No issue. Unless you wanna go overclock setup. In 5-6 years, definitely you will need to change the motherboard for new CPU anyway.

And can I replace the X750 with Cooler master V750?

Core i7-4790K - RM1159
CoolerMaster hyper 212X -RM120

Cooler master V750 - RM429
Corsair Carbide 400R case - RM329

Total price :RM5619

Is the gainward without phantom lousier a lot than the leadtek?

Does this build okay with the combination? I do know I get what I pay. But the quality build do really far behind with the rig that sifu tristanx suggest? smile.gif thank you and please guide me.. I'm here to learn and get the best bang for buck

It's big difference for the cooling performance.

Gainward has 1 year less warranty. The chip is still GTX970. Not much difference on the performance

Guys, I need help to build a rig for stuff like 3D animation making since i'm taking the course on college and it's alright for gaming. More for animation, spare time gaming.

[Budget]: rm2000 - 2600

[Requirements of the rig]:-

1: 3D animation software best for

2: Quad-Core Processor

3: Is good for gaming too

4: Smooth when making 3D projects

No need to include mouse, speaker or screen.

Hopefully a cheaper casing, as i like my money spend more towards gpu's , mobo , processor and so.

Thank you very much rclxms.gif
