Yup,and you also need a CPU Cooler.Will be over your budget. Plus the i7 4790k costs around RM11xx,since games from 2014 utilises them cores,better get Xeon or i7 4790k if u want to OC.

It'll be enough,even a good quality 500W is enough for the GTX970. But i'd rather have some headroom.

Hi guys, i am looking to build a gaming/work desktop (without monitor) any recommendation would be appreciated

[Budget] rm4.5k - 5k (including win 8.1 or win 7 please recommend)

[Purpose] Gaming / Work , Movies , multitasking

[Hardwares that will be re-use] Monitor

[Monitor resolution] 1080p (Might want to go into 1440p in the future)

[Games & softwares that use frequently] New games, Photoshop, Flash, 3d software (Zbrush etc)

[Personal preferences]
-GTX 970
-intel i7 4790k (might want to try OC once i learn more about it) ,
-gigabyte mobo ( heard that they are durable),
-would prefer to keep the HDD at 1tb (might add Hdd from old pc or additional hdd later the year) so the additional fund go to other places
-16gb of ram ( or should i add the other 8gb later?)


[Location] Petaling Jaya (i'll be getting it from the digital mall preferably from only one shop)

I've check the price list from c-zone that their Leadtek GTX970 comes with a Plextor m6s 128gb , unsure if its from the christmas promotion as there is no mention of it being HURRICANE version, is it worth getting if its not the Hurricane version?

Just make sure your BIOS is up to date. Newer RAM chips may cause compatibility issues.

Just bump the power supply to Seasonic X-750 at RM629 for SLI ready just in case you need to SLI GTX970 for 1440p. Increased third party cooling and hard disk space

And very interesting. Might be getting an air based rig early next year, with cases around that size. Current PC hassle like hell.

You can also go for Corsair Carbide 400R at RM329 for 8 expansion slots which is better for SLI due to more room in the case.

The cheaper the price doesn't mean it has good service.

I'd suggest Viewnet,even other sifus vouch for them.

If I would like to opt for overclocking, which cpu and mobo combination would be the most recommended?
I think I will push my budget higher to get either a MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G or ASUS GTX 970 Strix.
Can't decide which to go for.

i7 4790k RM11xx and Asrock Z97 Extreme4 RM579. Cheaper option for the motherboard would be Gigabyte Z97X-SLI RM469.Also need to add CPU Cooler CM Hyper 212X RM149.

I'd go with the latter. But then,it'll be over your budget since u want to overclock too.If i were in your shoes,i'd just get Gainward GTX970 and use extra money on getting overclocking stuffs.
