Sentinel92

1. might want to consider having links to the old threads.

2. are you aware of this? http://www.goldfries.com/shop/

biggrin.gif Just launched 1st January. More products will be added, catering for people who can't get those goods at their location.

Eh? I did add links to the older recommendation threads like V4, 5 and 6. sweat.gif Will update it to include V7 though. biggrin.gif

And very interesting. Might be getting an air based rig early next year, with cases around that size. Current PC hassle like hell.

Bit of a bind here. My boss, while updating the PS Audio Dectet via USB, managed to somehow trip the entire work place into darkness and also kill his precious Macbook Air. So planning to get a new work pc. Was looking into some hardware choices but I'd thought I'd just see what you guys can cook up.

[Budget] Around 2.5K. Lower if possible

[Purpose] Mostly work. Maybe games like Dota or Diablo (at least some graphical juice)

[Hardwares that will be re-use] HDD

[Monitor resolution] 1080p. Anything higher is wasted.

[Games & softwares that use frequently] Mircosoft tools. Adobe Suite. A LOT OF MUSIC PLAYBACK via jriver or audirvana.

[Personal preferences] Small as heck as possible. Not.much desktop space so I need a small footprint PC

Thanks!

How about these?

Core i5-4460 - RM629
Asrock H97 Pro4 motherboard - RM329
Kingston 8GB DDR3-1600 x1 - RM239
Leadtek GTX750 Ti or Sapphire R7 265(more powerful) 2GB DDR5 - RM529
DVD writer of your choice - RM59
Corsair VS 550W power supply - RM179
Thermaltake Versa or Aerocool VS-3 case - RM129
Samsung 21.5" monitor - RM349

RM2442 total (Viewnet prices)

Hmmm, I was thinking more of getting a AMD A10-7700K, slap in on a GIGABYTE GA-F2A58M-DS2 with the same other specs you suggested but no discreet GPU. I'll reuse the office monitor since this has DVI support. But does a A10 chip require good after market cooling for extended operations? It's an aircon room but not sure if I need a good air cooler that fits a small matx case.

For APU I wouldn't spend for anything more than a A8-6600K.

I have the 7700 and 7850 and I can tell you that they're great stuff technology-wise but the pricing hurts the value of the product.

AMD CPUs gets steamrolled by Intel for around the same price.
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1200?vs=288

This is not even using i5-4460 which is gen4. For the graphics side, R7 250X already make it look stupid.

No monitor can get you these.

Core i5-4460 - RM629
Asrock H97 Pro4 motherboard - RM329
Kingston 8GB DDR3-1600 x1 - RM239
Leadtek GTX750 Ti or Sapphire R7 265(more powerful) 2GB DDR5 - RM529
Intel 530 120GB SSD - RM259
DVD writer of your choice - RM59
Seasonic M12 II Evo 520W power supply (better grade) - RM279
Thermaltake Versa or Aerocool VS-3 case - RM129

RM2452 total (Viewnet prices)

Well, that's why I asked here first. Hahaha. Thanks guys for the input. I'll stick to Intel then.

Might be getting rid of watercooling soon and upgrading my mobo, GPU and casing.

Any thoughts on the new MSI Z97 USB 3.1 based motherboards? Or should I stick to the current selection?

Budget: RM1700 for casing and mobo. Wanna leave at least 2.3K for the 390X.

Core i7-4770K
Asrock Z87 Fatal!ty Professional
16GB Corsair DDR3
290X
256GB Samsung Evo 840
3TB Seagate HDD
Corsair AX860i
NZXT Switch 810.

I'm getting BSODs on a fortnightly basis now also. All when playing BF4. Sigh. The latest patch really screwed my PC up. Before this no BSODs for almost 5 months straight after the build.

That is a gud mobo, i dun see any significant of changing it,
when u say patch, u mean by update the mobo bios?
Have u tried hardware troubleshoot? Reseating all component?
*
Not really. Had stability issues with BIOS, USB ports and then some.

Patch as in BF4 patch. Latest one came out two months or so ago and had been giving me issues ever since. Wanna move away from WC as it's easier to just replace and swap stuff while on air. Reinstalled BF4 and AMD drivers. Still not much difference.

Anyways I'll need the better audio out of the later mobos too.

Currently looking at the MSI Gaming 9, Gigabyte Gaming GT or ASUS Sabertooth. Good audio, crossfire capable and overall a long lasting board that's able to handle OCs.

Asrock. Seriously other than the formula series. Literally lousy.
But the peps loves it.

More to pro way of troubleshooting
Ure bsod on oc etc?
Whats ur ram speeds at??
Whats the bsod code??
Bsod nowadays only can be two things

I wouldnt bother for an upgrade at this stage. As for soundcard get dedicated.
*
Cheap I guess. I got mine cuz I was given a steep discount too. Should've seen it as a red alert.

My codes differ every time. I get 286, 7e, 10, and others I forgot. Initially the problem was the highly unstable TP Link drivers. Then it was BF4.exe. now I don't even know what program is causing it. But it's ALWAYS when playing BF4. My RAM speeds were initially OC to 1866Mhz with added voltage for the speeds but now it's back to 1600MHz at stock voltage.

Nah, don't even want to add another sound card. Just want my rig to be as basic as it is. No fancy WC or extra PCI cArds. Going back to AIO and air cooling.
