Dear sifus,

I need recommendation from you all.
Preferably Intel and Nvidia-based.

Budget : 3.5 to 3.7k
Purpose : Gaming, multasking, streaming, movies
Hardwares that will be re-used : Elite 311 casing, keyboard & mouse, DVD Drive
Games & softwares that use frequently : BF4, Fifa 15 and other most recent games
Location : Kuala Lumpur

I have the following in mind:
Proc : Intel i5 4690 / 4690K
Graphic card : Nvidia GTX970 (read review about MSI GTX970 Gaming 4G is quite good)
PSU : Seasonic (Seasonic S12G-650 650W or Seasonic S12II 80 620W better?)
HDD : 1TB
RAM : 8GB
Monitor : 23 or 24 inch (preferably not Dell S2340L as the screen is reflective. I am using it in my office)

Thank you.

Are you gonna overclock? hmm.gif

CPU:Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 3.4GHz RM819
MoBo:Asrock H97-Pro4 RM329
GPU:Gainward GTX970 4GB GDDR5 RM1099
RAM:Kingston Value RAM 8GB DDR3 1600MHz RM244
HDD:WD Caviar Blue 1TB RM174
PSU:Seasonic S12II 620W 80+ Bronze RM299
Monitor:LG 23MP65HQ RM549
Total:RM3513
Optional:Intel 530 Series 120GB RM259
GPU is from IdealTech, the rest are from Viewnet@LYP. smile.gif

Difference is only the 80+ Gold and 80+ Bronze,AFAIK.Former comes at RM409 though. tongue.gif
Also, the MSI GTX970 Gaming 4GB GDDR5 is priced at RM1499..that's gonna over your budget.

I saw some review saying that overclocking CPU does not really boost the performance, unless overclocking the GPU.
Correct me if I am wrong.
If I want to overclock CPU, the mobo also needs to be changed to z97?
Since it is just around 600W, a 80+ Bronze will be enough or a 80+ Gold (better but that would be up to my budget right?)?

Sorry for asking so many questions at once. Really need your experience here.

Some games for CPU,even after you overclocked it,the performance will be the same.Take Watch Dogs for example. nod.gif

Yup,and you also need a CPU Cooler. Will be over your budget. tongue.gif Plus the i7 4790k costs around RM11xx,since games from 2014 utilises them cores, better get Xeon or i7 4790k if u want to OC. wink.gif

It'll be enough, even a good quality 500W is enough for the GTX970. tongue.gif But i'd rather have some headroom. wink.gif

Thank you Minecrafter!!

If I would like to opt for overclocking, which cpu and mobo combination would be the most recommended?
I think I will push my budget higher to get either a MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4G or ASUS GTX 970 Strix.
Can't decide which to go for.

i7 4790k RM11xx and Asrock Z97 Extreme4 RM579. tongue.gif Cheaper option for the motherboard would be Gigabyte Z97X-SLI RM469.Also need to add CPU Cooler CM Hyper 212X RM149. nod.gif

I'd go with the latter. tongue.gif But then,it'll be over your budget since u want to overclock too.If i were in your shoes,i'd just get Gainward GTX970 and use extra money on getting overclocking stuffs. tongue.gif

I thought i5 is more than sufficient for gaming already?
i5 4690k is not good?
