Hi TristanX, I'm looking to build a CPU on a similar budget and purpose as well (gaming + multimedia work). My initial budget is RM3K (with monitor), and hoping the build will last for about 3-4 years before I need to change my graphic card to play more graphically advance games without lagging/spiking.
Would you recommend investing the extra RM500 and follow the CPU build as above? Or is there a more affordable build for RM3K with monitor? To be more specific, which part of the computer should I budget on and which part I should invest more (eg: graphic card vs RAM, etc).
Thanks in advance!

Xeon is slightly underclocked i7 without built-in GPU. Yes, it is worth it.

Gigabyte H97M-D3H - 339
LEADTEK GTX960 - 749
WD Green Desktop 2tb - 275
i plan to reuse my PSU, RAM (mayb get new one), HDD, casing and optical drive
cooler master GX 750w
ASUS DRW-24B1ST ATA Device
WD Caviar green 1 TB X 2
kingston ddr3 pc1333 2gb X 3
or should i get new ram?
Kingston D3 PC1600 4GB X 2 - 270
Stop getting WD Green. It is a turtle. Go for Seagate SV35 instead. Nothing much to refine unless you can fork out 500 more for Xeon + GTX970.

hi guys,
I currently playing online mmorpg, suffering very bad fps when raid. Its only 8fps worst time.
1. How do you know if the game uses more CPU or GPU?
2. My plan to upgrade due to budget constraint only got 1.2k first.
Option A,
Upgrade my old 2GB 6950 (Reference card) to 970 or R290x. I gaming with 1080p only. Only play online mmo.
Option B,
Upgrade processor from I5-2400 to I5-4690 + RM300 Mobo.
Which option of upgrade will help to increase FPS for my gaming. Planning to slowly upgrade.
What is your full PC spec?

no cooling? no need i guess since no overclokcing but im lightly worried about
Xeon comes with stock cooler. You can add Coolermaster Hyper 212X if you don't mind spending a bit more.
