hey guys, quick question.. whats the best budget cpu & mobo combo for playing fps games on ultra?mainly battlefield 4/hardline. gpu, psu, and hdd already got.will soon upgrade to windows 8,for now too expensive, lol!
ps,its preferred that the cpu is i5 seeing that i3 seems to have trouble playing these games, and that i7 almost has no difference at all..
thanks! smile.gif

Kingston Hyper Fury 4gb x 2
Regular 1tb HDD

Which is the cheapest GTX 970 at the moment? Also does it really matter which one I get? Zotac/Leadtek/Palit/Gainward etc?
*
gainward reference is the cheapest,

doesnt matter, not much,
just that for now zotac give u the longest warranty period
3+2years

Do these long term warranty periods cover everything? also being the cheapest, are they still reliable in terms of quality? I saw a few reviews for Gainward reference they say its very noisy and has coil whine issues
*
as it is references, all references card is noisy, so it will not be accounted as big issues,

INTEL I5-4460
gigabyte b85-hd3
cooler master g650w

#not using gpu at the moment.. since others not in stock.

If u can find asrock h87 performance, it has better feature n cheaper...
for that psu i would go for seasonic s12ii 620w rm289, much value for money

yes, im building this pc with oc gpu and cpu. what do you think? worth it?
*
U already bought it, so no point asking 'is it ok or not',
as u can see from wut i quote u, u can even get better build with less than 5k complete with monitor,

As for that price, u actly can have i7-4790k build,
even itx, with ssd, n infact can squeeze some to accomodate gtx980,
But well u already bought it,
so no point dragging this long

Hi sifu what brand hardisk(1TB) recommend me?please give me the price and hardisk name~Thanks
*
For now that the price is making sense,
Seagate 1TB and WD Blue 1TB, both ranging from RM189-RM210,
the other variant like black, red, purple is not so value for money for consumer,

But if u want some xtra performance, can consider Seagate SSHD 1TB ranging RM299-RM310,
iinm oni seagate produce sshd, shud be twice the performance of normal hdd

Hi sifus,

Background:
I plan to buy a custom rig and self install them at home. My last custom rig was back in Pentium IV duo core era. Company laptops + Xbox360 since then. Let me know if you have any advice or noticeable non-compatibility issue.

Main purpose:
VMware Workstation: Host = Win8.1 (upgrade to 10 later) for VMware Workstation running max 4 test VMs (2 windows + 2 linux).
Light gaming in the future: Company of Heroes, Homeworld Remastered, Cities Skyline
Misc: Adobe Lightroom occasionally

Provision specs:
Case Thermaltake Urban S31 - RM229
PSU Thermaltake Smart SE 530W 87 - RM220
Mobo Asus H97 Plus - RM415
CPU Intel i7-4790 - RM1109
RAM 2 x Kingston PC3 12800 DDR 1600 - RM550
SSD Samsung 250GB 850 EVO - RM509
HDD WD 1TB Green - RM181
DVD-RW - RM55

Total RM 3268
Pick i7 over Xeon because I wish to start without GPU. Prefer PC to be as silent as possible. No overclocking.

Future upgrade:
GPU Asus GTX 960 Strix 2GB - RM950

Questions:
1. Is 3rd party CPU air cooler necessary?
*
Looks like ur usage gonna be cpu intensive, why not just straight for i7-4790k build?

don't really mind about everything else but I am thinking of upgrading every six month or so  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif
*
so u saying u willing to sacrifice performance over aesthetic?

Pro : CORE I5 4690 (RM869)
Motherboard : Asrock H87 Performance (RM264)
GPU : Gainward GTX 970 Reference (RM1200)
Ram : 8gb (RM250)
HD : LiteOn S900 120gb ssd (RM249)
PSU : Seasonic M12II 620W (RM379)
Casing : NZXT S340 (RM290)

Grand TOTAL = RM3501

The Asrock H87 Performance and H97 Performance should perform the same, since the H97 is just a refresh of the H87 with some added new features. You can save around RM200 by using H87...
*
just pick normal casing as budget is tight, thermaltake rm139 n pick non modular psu would save some cost for xeon 1231 v3

How about use other brand motherboard
yet my friend prefer gtx 970 without ssd ?
*
bro, budget it to tight for OC build+GTX970,
it is like puttin an elephant into a fridge,

another cheaper mobo is,
MSI Z87 G43 RM369, but this one is not SLI ready, just CF ready,
or
Asrock Z87 Killer RM419

even after cuttin down budget for mobo,
u still dun have the luxury to put GTX970

the cheapest GTX970 is around RM1200

if u insist on GTX970 with SLI ready setup,
we can try adjust to this for RM3.5K

Xeon 1231 V3 4GHz RM979
Asrock Z87 Killer RM419
Gainward GTX970 Ref. RM1200 estimated
Corsair Value RAM 8GB DDR3 1600MHz RM229
WD Caviar Blue 1TB RM199
Seasonic S12II 620W 80+ Bronze RM299
Thermaltake 25 RM139 - Estimated.

RM3464
