QUOTE(gchowyh @ Apr 9 2015, 11:23 AM) QUOTE(bbgoat @ Apr 9 2015, 02:21 PM) Just learned my sister also received the overdue interest after I asked her to monitor SCB's SA. We complained to SCB's RM, different RM, but not "aggressively" as some reported. I even planned to just let it go if SCB cannot settle this one. Use my energy elsewhere.Anyway, @gchowyh, just monitor your SCB SA. This post has been edited by bbgoat: Apr 10 2015, 07:34 PM |

QUOTE(Human Nature @ Apr 13 2015, 10:20 AM) My interests for SCB 4.25%18 months deposited on 13/10 have been credited, under instruction (2) and (3) respectively. Moving on, other than those FD placed before 25/9/2014, SCB should have solved the interest crediting issue for FD >12 mths.I and some others have received interest for FD placed before 25/9/2014. Those that don't have hopefully can get it soon. If not may have to ask them again. Good thing of SCB is the IBFT with ZERO fees. Just found out CB have IBFT facility with fees of RM0.32 (only Citigold ??) only. RHB RM0.80 and CIMB RM2 ! This post has been edited by bbgoat: Apr 13 2015, 12:09 PM |

6 million is a magic number. Someone once said (last year ?), with 6 million, 4% interest, 20k per month. Can live happily ever after.
If some of that in EPF, bettter still, more interest ! This post has been edited by bbgoat: Apr 13 2015, 03:29 PM |

Assuming communists don't take over and 'redistribute' all existing wealth. And at least if money in bank, a bit safer, when its in EPF, have to worry whether government mis-using EPF money =p Always can find worst case scenario one... assuming we did not break any bones when falling down ... no ending in sight of negative possibilities. QUOTE(gsc @ Apr 15 2015, 12:01 AM) Ocbc does not "auto correct" to working day. My FD slip printed mature on 11 April which is a Saturday. I have the same scenario with MBB early this year:I will check out with Ocbc coz my RM did tell me the following scenerio. FD matured on Saturday, customer act on the matured FD on Monday, weekend interest rate will be credited as per the FD rate on the FD slip. But if customer acts on the mature FD on Tuesday, no interest will be credited over the weekend. Quote: FD matured on Saturday, customer act on the matured FD on Monday, weekend interest rate will be credited as per the FD rate on the FD slip. But the FD cert is not on auto renew. If auto renew, likely will not get the Sat/Sun interest. QUOTE(BoomChaCha @ Apr 15 2015, 12:04 AM) Ah Sir, I agree with with you, we will try not to withdraw due the the higher interest rate For step-up of PBB, the FD cert showed 6 months validity. But at the back, it would indicate the next auto renewal rate. RHB's FD cert not sure if they print the next step up rate at the back of the cert. Need to check mine to see.at year end. RHB 12 months' FD gave me one FD cert, but this FD cert is valid for 3 months, I have the option to renew or withdraw the FD cert after 3 months; or if I do not have time to go to RHB to renew, then this FD will auto-renew until it matures in 12 months later. Interest will deposit to my RHB saving account based on the step-up tenures. RHB step-up FD has been doing the depositing of interest without fail every 3 months for last year's promo until now. You still have not received SCB's interest ? This post has been edited by bbgoat: Apr 15 2015, 08:14 AM |

QUOTE(cappuccino vs latte @ Apr 15 2015, 10:47 PM) Good for those already have acct there and looking for short term FD. QUOTE(gchowyh @ Apr 16 2015, 12:33 AM) I doubt if Penang has another different system. But not sure why my sister and me got the interest for those prior to 25/9/2014 FD's. At least now not avoiding SCB, just some grumbling. QUOTE(gsc @ Apr 16 2015, 01:53 AM) Yesterday went to Ocbc and the staff said if mature on Saturday and withdraw on any day except Monday (the first working day), the interest is still calculated till Sunday. This is different from what the RM said. I need to calculte to verify. I took up RHB UT/FD bundle more as I already have plan to top up the UT. As asset allocation strategy. Not so much of the 7.8% FD. The UT have to hold >3 years. Anyway I have UT which is already >10 years holding. Took the money and walked over to RHB on step up interest. Ocbc staff said as a formality, they need to know why I withdraw the FD. Told her, your neighbour offers a better interest rate. RHB step up is an Islamic Account and I have to open the new account. Took about 30 minutes with many forms to sign. The staff try to sell me the FD 7.8% bundle with unit trus He shows me the comparision against FD of RM100k. The FD rate RHB used to compare is 3.25% the board rate which is inaccurate. They should use the promo rate. Then the senario will be different. The UT return is about 7% but the charges is 5%. It is good only if keep for 3 years and the rate of return is on average 7% per year to minimize the 5% charges. I asked the staff on the cut off date on the dividend paid out which he tried to look at the computer but unable to find. On the FD statement Deposit date 15/4/15 Maturity date 15/7/15 Profit payment option: On maturity (which means every 3 months) Peincipal Distribution Option :auto renewalh Profit payment and maturity amount are stated clearly. QUOTE(Gen-X @ Apr 16 2015, 08:54 AM) UT as most knows it, higher risk with higher return. The ASNB have better reputation thats why I go into it. QUOTE(Gen-X @ Apr 16 2015, 05:23 PM) Nowadays banks want to know source of our funds When I bring a cheque to OCBC PB centre to open new account, the leng lui RM right in front of me, keyed in my name and searched in Google ! Immediately I asked her is it normal procedure for OCBC to do a search on new customer. She said YES !Last time another member mentioned he wanted to place a FD with OCBC but they told him to "balik kampung" and place the FD with their branch near to the address shown in his NRIC. Yesterday I went and withdraw my money from UOB in cheque and cash forms. They also wanted to know why I taking out the money, For the cheque, I said to go deposit with other Bank's FD Promo. For the Cash, I said I going Genting I then when over to MBB to deposit the cash into my Savings Account with the teller (as I wanted the money ready for Q-Cash first thing in the morning today), and they made me fill in a Declaration Form stating the Source Of The Fund Nowadays, banks very fussy where Source of Our Funds come from, especially if you are new to them. Luckily So, really the banks are searching for our info before opening new acct. Or is it only foreign banks more detail on this ? |

QUOTE(harmonics3 @ Apr 16 2015, 05:10 PM) I was told the 7.8% 3-mth FD promo is bundled with 5% standard sales charge for ASG funds. If not taking the FD promo the sales charge is 3%. The std sales charge is 5%, but using epf, then the sales charge is 3%. So RHB cannot have quoted you with 3% unless you are using epf money. Which is better? If you are not taking the FD promo, other than using epf money, the sc is 5%. Also the 3mth FD promo is 7% (cann't be sure now as I took the 6mt promo), only 6 mth is 7.8%. QUOTE(Gen-X @ Apr 16 2015, 07:53 PM) Wah, google your name! This one really high tech, hahaha. Ha ha, cannot let them link my real name and bbgoat together ! Ah Boom asked me to take photo of the leng lui RM, told him cannot lah. But she is really the best looking RM I have seen. @gsc was not able to find her in OCBC PB centre, maybe it is because beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. Hehe. Next time ask them google bbgoat then they know you go there for eyetertainment Will continue my eyetertainment silently in OCBC Penang PB centre ................... QUOTE(gsc @ Apr 16 2015, 10:33 PM) If she is the RM usually wont hang around at the counter or waiting area unless they are seeing bbgoat or other customers You really over doing it ! If they google bbgoat lowyat then probably ocbc will find themselves being "discussed"....and instantly recognised your status.. QUOTE(gsc @ Apr 16 2015, 10:45 PM) On depositing cash, Will the hyper loaded person please stands up ? UOB limit is Rm30k, Ocbc, HL and Citi bank at RM50k. But they may have changed the policy now... On asking what will the fund be used, Citi bank has lower limit than others, cant remember the limit. Even if you apply for a bank draft for less than RM20k, Citi bank will ask the purpose.... I like your Genting answer which probably I can use it too.... Wa, expert on funds among soooo many banks ! But uncle watch out if really going to Genting. You know la, so many people depending on you. QUOTE(gsc @ Apr 16 2015, 10:45 PM) All banks wont question sources of fund if you use bank draft or personal cheque as it is already stated from which bank... When I used a joint name cheque (I am one of the 2 signatory) to deposit to CB, initially the counter said no issue. Then 10 days later, CB called up asking about the source of fund. I also heard of SCB asking about source of fund almost 1 month after depositing it ! So somehow someone higher up somewhere (in bank ?) asking or auditing depositing of funds. QUOTE(gsc @ Apr 16 2015, 10:55 PM) Touch wood...if anything happened, even if it is under joint name FD, to avoid complexity, the other joint name person will be forced to withdraw the FD before maturity to avoid the money being "frozen" .... You are really planning "ahead" ................ But seriously, what you said is true ! This post has been edited by bbgoat: Apr 17 2015, 08:21 AM |

QUOTE(gchowyh @ Apr 17 2015, 11:02 AM) I have no choice but to avoid SCB for now. I understand your point on SCB. Before they gave me the overdue interest, I was thinking of NOT placing any new FD there. But after I got it, I "softened" a bit. At least though AmBank got issues they solve it without giving all kinds of funny excuses. QUOTE(gchowyh @ Apr 17 2015, 11:02 AM) First time hearing this, haha, but I do google search on a company's background also though Yes, I do Google search on companies and products before buying them. But seriously, even my bank statement is getting longer now with more descriptions put in like where my IBG is coming from or going to & reason for transfer. I was kind of "shocked" when the leng lui RM Google searched my name. She then printed out the search result, kind of few pages some more !! All are similar names, not exactly the same, hahaha ! This was less than 2 months ago. This post has been edited by bbgoat: Apr 17 2015, 12:39 PM |

QUOTE(cappuccino vs latte @ Apr 17 2015, 11:54 PM) if not mistaken you need to collect physical cert at your designated branch for future upliftment purpose. Yes, PBB will print out the FD cert and you have to collect it from the branch. But once I collected the certs about 2 months later as I was overseas. |
