QUOTE(BoomChaCha @ Apr 24 2015, 12:58 PM) Gary still does not receive his interest, so SCB is still in the middle of crediting I remember there are some who said NOT to put in for 3 years as the rate is going up. Anyway the point is it is always good to put in some amt at progressively high FD rates.interest manually to depositor accounts. This is true not to put too many eggs in one basket.. For example, I already put in RHB at 4.21% intead of SCB at 4.5% Islamic ma.. Ah Sir, but this time I want to shoot to the maximum now.. I missed the Am Bank 4.5% for 3 years.. We can never wait to get the highest rates. The rates may go up or down. Just put FD to those that we think we are comfortable with and which is the highest and best at that time. Anyway time may prove me wrong. But life is that way. We can never be sure of everything ! This post has been edited by bbgoat: Apr 24 2015, 01:05 PM |

QUOTE(BoomChaCha @ Apr 23 2015, 11:22 PM) So I lost RM 307.00 just to place my FD with SCB in Damansara Uptown... Just saw news that Penang has lowered towing charge from RM150 to RM100. Reason is local council is allowed maximum fine of RM100 for towing. So Penang is following that local city council guideline which is supposed to be for whole of Malaysia. Next time I will never go to Damansara Uptown anymore... So, Ah Boom, go and appeal ? This post has been edited by bbgoat: Apr 25 2015, 09:42 AM |

QUOTE(BoomChaCha @ Apr 27 2015, 09:13 PM) I was thinking to place FD in Alliance Bank, now I change my Wa, after initial pain of getting the interest, no more "pain" for the future. mind to place FD with SCB Saadiq (Islamic) 15 Months - 4.5%.. obviously a better deal..No pain no gain lah... I will place SCB Islamic in two days later.. QUOTE(BoomChaCha @ Apr 28 2015, 12:20 AM) Yes, only 3 months..unfortunately Don't forget C D & gf & unties that was mentioned before ?? If you want to place more than RM 30K, you can find your relative(s) to open joint account with you, for example: (1) You, under your single name -- one account for first RM 30K (2) Under you and your wife joint account -- one more account for second RM 30K (3) Under your wife single name -- another FD account for 3rd RM 30K .. and etc.. So, you can place total RM 90K under 3 accounts at a time.. QUOTE(lowya @ Apr 28 2015, 07:11 AM) SCB Saadiq (Islamic) 15 Months - 4.5% Cannot really compare as different length of 3 mths vs 15 mths. Various things like need more time for the 3 mths vs 15 mths to handle the FD (3 mths later need to place FD again), diff needs of 3 mth short length (if need money 3 mths or so later, this is a good deal), OPR may change between 3 to 15 mths (up or down), max 30k for the 3 mth etc etc. vs HSBC 5% for 3 Months FD has extended to 30 June 2015 clear choice isn't it? QUOTE(BoomChaCha @ Apr 28 2015, 09:40 AM) They say "mari mari, makan makan" ........................ QUOTE(Ramjade @ Apr 28 2015, 09:48 AM) Haha, have to pull wife, gf, uncle, unties, CD ........... 3 mths later look for another FD. Then if OPR drops ? What a hassle to earn the extra 0.5% over 3 mths some more. I think diff tenure difficult to compare 1 to 1. This post has been edited by bbgoat: Apr 28 2015, 10:02 AM |

Received call from BR on 17/5 function in Penang Jen Hotel (former Traders Hotel). Not bad compared to recent invitations in other venues (they do have one in Eq Hotel before).
Also SCB invitation for tonight some wine tasting and food in 1-Stop. Any Penang kaki going tonight ? This post has been edited by bbgoat: Apr 29 2015, 10:28 AM |

QUOTE(gchowyh @ Apr 29 2015, 05:37 PM) Penang always get the good stuff SCB Penang PB centre though small size but not bad. Give free parking coupon and can send FD cert to customer's home address (so no need to wait for printed cert). BR is ok but SCB is nothing but trouble. Went to Uptown branch to give them one last try & still disappointed. Their priority banking is so bad, no customer & no RM at all but I saw a queue number left there where the number didn't change at all for 30 mins! I lodged a complaint again saying I will go to BNM if they don't give me my 6 months interest. I met a BR officer looking for someone's house & he told me that BNM new rule is if phone number of account holder is not contactable, they need to look for the person at his/her house to update / verify. BR wise though no PB centre but quite fast in issuing FD cert (if banker's cheque same day). Got makan makan, hampers. Cannot really complain too much. |

QUOTE(gsc @ May 1 2015, 03:23 AM) My personal experience UOB:UOB Took out as cash and went for lunch. My friend said why dont you place it back and may be bank will consider fresh fund. Tried and counter staff took it as fresh. Different counter staff Took out as cash and add on some cash and the counter staff took it as fresh. My original intention was to place it with other bank. Once RENTAS out and issue personal cheque from another bank and placed FD as "fresh fund". At the same teller, they seem to know the "trick" that customer is doing. Second instance the teller asked me to top up 10k to the matured FD and placed new FD under promo rate. No need to RENTAS out. This post has been edited by bbgoat: May 1 2015, 08:57 AM |

QUOTE(Human Nature @ May 5 2015, 04:28 PM) Found out that in UOB, it is possible to do partial upliftment (losing interest for the uplifted amount) even if the FD is in a single statement. Some time last year UOB has been asking me NOT to split FD as they have this partial uplift policy. So no need to split FD into too many different ones on the same day. QUOTE(Human Nature @ May 5 2015, 06:11 PM) Haha yeah. I wanted to split into 4 certs so that's why the lady informed me about this. End up, I still split into 2. Easier to keep track of whose money belongs to who for joint accounts Yes, it is still better to distinguish which part of the money belongs to who ! |

QUOTE(gsc @ May 6 2015, 10:24 AM) Thanks for speedy rely. The IBG schedule was revised late last year. I also learned about it from one forummer here. For IBG, it is within the same day even it is after 12 noon. I have overlooked another Ocbc FD mature today. The bank staff did not remind me yesterday. Got to go again. QUOTE(gsc @ May 6 2015, 01:07 PM) today IBG instead of Rentas...save some money, tq. So you went to the PB centre ? Still trying to spot the leng lui yesterday and today ? Ocbc has the following offer and seems nobody reported this, or i miss out? first 6 months 4%, second 6 months 4.4%. effective is slightly more than 4.2% because, the first 6 months interest is added on to the principal. say principal is P, after 6 months, it is P plus 6 months interest roll over with 4.4% interest Good that OCBC add on the 1st 6 months interest to the principal FD amt for next 6 months. |
