I think it is good bcuz I'm still use membrane KB and want to try mechanical.. So, this is a MKB for noobs like me...

You can actually get second hand standard layout mkb with price around Cherry 2.0.
Standard layout is good for long run.
But if you insist of getting Cherry 2.0, then of course I will not stop you at all.

For 2nd hand MKB, where I can find it for that price tag? I find LYN but still not found bcuz some of them are already sold...Hope can found it.. Thanks

Hi guys, am wondering... are there any MKB with low profile keys/ shorter key travel?

Low profile keys will be DSA, and to lower key travel you'd need to put o-rings in the keycaps.

So are there any off the shelf products? 'Cause if it costs a lot more than a standard keyboard then I don't think it's within my budget already =(

O-rings don't affect travel.

Why you want a mechanical keyboard like with shorter key travel?
Membrane, scissors switches have shorter key travel and lower profile in height.

Is it depends on the type of o-ring?

It'll reduce distance travelled before bottoming out, not distance traveled before actuation.

I assume you wanna reduce the former?

It mainly depends on how you type. Using membrane/scissor type switches, we have to bottom out in order for the key press to be registered. But that's not the case for mechanical switches, you don't need to bottom out the keypress. I notice that my new mx black registers the key press when i just press in very little. If I'm not mistaken, the distance the key needed to travel before key press is registered is 2mm or 4mm,( correct me if I'm wrong, sifus)

If you wana try the click click feel, I'd suggest go to some shops which provides the demo keyboard and test. I don't regret spending money on a MKB.

Hi guys, I'm new to MKB. I'm wondering is there mkb that don't have backlighting? I'm looking for one which have blue switch since I'll using it more on typing than gaming, something that is not too flashy lol. Of course it need to be affordable too since it will be my first mkb. Any recommendations?
