Listening to the AKG K701 and comparing it to the HD600, the HD600 is more musical to me.
With the AKG K1000 in possession and my future headphone for reference (with a HD600 or 650 perhaps for anything bass-heavy) I'm likely to be selling the AKG K701 because it falls short of the HD600.
HD600 may be more musical, just like how i felt that my previous Grado has an edge compared to my K701. Bass is stronger, livelier, and who cares about soundstage anyway? Moreover if we want to discuss on "musical" terms, what should be considered as musical? Isn't that depends on your preferred music genre? For example, rock lovers will find Grado and Alessandro more musical than any Sennheisers or AKG. In fact Ijan says his K701 is excellent on Jazz. As for me, i would say my ex Grado and my K701 are both musical, but they excel in different music genre.
Owning a K701 gave me a pleasant and wonderful experience. It is like God gifted me a baby, which i nurture her with love songs and romantic tunes. Watch her starts to crawl, watch her learns to walk, learns to speak...

The evolution of sound was very obvious, and i would say now my K701 sounded so much better than the 1st day i acquired her. Bass is finally here, not as strong as my ex Grado but it is well present. However there's no denial that the K701 suits me better compared to my ex Grado.
