Listening to the AKG K701 and comparing it to the HD600, the HD600 is more musical to me.

With the AKG K1000 in posession and my future headphone for reference (with a HD600 or 650 perhaps for anything bass-heavy) I'm likely to be selling the AKG K701 because it falls short of the HD600.

I like it but I can't afford to keep both with the K1000

It isn't a justified decision *to keep both. I would prefer to keep both, but I just don't have enough money lying around to fund the repairs.

I haven't decided yet.

I have to send it for a fix-up, get it back, figure out my funds then sit down for an amplifier.

I'm still torn between a balanced beta22 and a First Watt F1 (using the Benchmark DAC1 as a preamp to control the volume).

I'm more keen on the balanced beta22 though, mainly because of it's cheaper price and it is a DIY amp (I wouldn't be DIY-ing it though). Moreover, the beta22 would be able to work with the Sennheisers as well.

Undecided because I have no money just yet. smile.gif

I will be back home in a months time, but it's not like I would have my K701 with me anymore because it's likely to be sold by then.

Unless you can make me a better offer.

I could use GBP 150 smile.gif

It's not like I'm keen selling them in Malaysia.

I have a buyer here in the UK, just waiting to try it out with a CKK III and the purchase will go through.

Going to have a small mini meet with the guy

Alien DAC, SOHA, CKK III, PIMETA AD8620, PIMETA AD8066, CMOY, MisterX XP amp, iMod, Zune, Grado SR 225, Senn HD600, AKG K701.

That's quite a lot of toys for 2 people to have aye?

I'm not sure if I'm comfortable bringing back all my stuff to Malaysia.

I mean, I can bring back the PIMETA AD8066 and the iMod for you guys just for the fun of it. I don't think bringing along the Sennheiser HD600 in my luggage would be a good idea.

The reason for that is that a Benchmark DAC1 is waiting for me back at home, considering that extra amount of luggage, it would be best I left my headphones in the UK.

I might if you guys want but I don't have a UK power cord (compatible with Malaysian power socket) or compatible slo-blo fuses to go with it. This is because I bought it from a USA supplier. Much hassle.

Definitely not Pasar Road only can land me a SloBlo.

I'm sure they are easy to find.

Updates: Just sent my AKG K1000 to Germany today. Hopefully they will understand my English to return the replaced (old) parts together with my headphones. I have also requested them to return it to me before I leave for Malaysia.

This does not mean that I will bring it back. I may be persuaded to bring it home for you guys to have a listen if you'd like if there's a high demand for it so chip in to this forum if you want it brought back. I would also not bring it back if there isn't a suited amplifier for it. A speaker amp would do.

I'm not being cocky or anything because I have a K1000, I'm just saying that if you guys really want me to bring it home to Malaysia, I will try my best because my luggage space is only so much. Moreover I have to take into consideration that Benchmark DAC1 that I'll be lugging back home to the UK.

I'm sure you'll understand. Let me know smile.gif

Ah I'm quoting this because I posted last in the previous page. Posting last sucks, always doesn't get read.

Anyway, yeah, K1000 is in Germany; it will be with me by the 22nd of June.
The DAC1 is in Malaysia waiting for me to take to the UK.

That is why I am asking if anyone wants me to bring it home. Are you that thick or what?

I will be in Malaysia for my summer holidays (24th June to 29th Sept).

Na, you just have a tendency not to read things through.

I know when the meet date is, why did you bring it up?

The K1000 is terminated with bare wires. So just plain connected to speaker posts.

Apparently it's very sensitive to DC offset and T-amps have bad offsets. Someone please come in and comment about this.

Here is the thread I read about DC offsets http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.p...=AKG+K1000+50mV

Added on May 30, 2007, 3:23 pmTo answer the other question. The K1000 is terminated with 4 pin XLR (male) single ended and it usually comes with a tail end, i.e. 4 pin XLR (female) to bare wires.
