HI, where do you located? Come over and have a listen at my place then? i have both for audition here. And, E7+E9 shall not be able to drive K701. I have all the unit here, the volume are there, but the details just do not be refined.

IF you are looking for amplifier for K701, you need very high current amp, please vote for maverick a1, or even better amp

E7 and E9 is a good entry level setup. But there is something to be better in the same price range. Just maybe the person who did the comments do not have the explosure for better alternative

How do you define "drive it nicely"? If you have the chances to listen to how was the fully maximise K701 sound, you will get the idea. A bad combinations can make K701 to be very hollow, or empty sounding.

As such, Please do consider well, IF you are target for huge soundstage, this is the one to go. But, you will need to take up more funds afterwards. The ratio for K701 is 1:1.5, If you wan to make it sound nice, you will need to spend RM1.5 for amp where your headphone are RM1. I have so many customer/friends placing their K701 collecting dusts this baby need a big time amplifier.

Please let us know what is your music preference, K701 are good for classical music, jass music, but if you are making this baby for rock, so sorry, K701 can never be rock.

definitely not. I placed my order for k701. The rest i wanna get is amp. but i am noob to drive this little baby. I know I at least get a fiio E7+E9, but the budget does not allow me to do so. So i guess is the DAC able to drive it or not.

driving issue definitely very easy
but depend on how you definite "Drive"

as brother yuheng mentioned, volume drive definitely no problem in E9, any power amp can do that easily, however, the synergy matching and refinement is what most of people playing "Amp", to find the best matching, best enhancement for the maximum potential for this awesome K701, a wrong amp you will get missing/narrowed staging, missing low frequency, refinement bloated, accuracy and transparency not accurate etc. K701 level is really on high end equipment, many people do conclude this monster can produce a monstrous/ears dripping/wonderful sound if you can pair it with a very well match amp.
Which usually the amp cost more then the headphone alone

I agree wholeheartfully to what yuheng said.
But one thing you guys should notice is that, Cold, Airy, Hollow, Analytical etc IS the sound signature of K701. IT IS suppose to sound that way by default. Thus, Tube Amps are said to be best paired with it because it will make K701 warmer, for instance, Schiit Valhalla is highly regarded to pair with K701, as Schiit themselves have said and tested.

I still consider E7/E9 as the best bang of buck amp, sure, IF you like the neutrality and do not like anything that distort/modify the sound signature of a pair of Headphone.

This is definitely not a little baby. In fact it is a HUGE baby that requires desktop amp(the best) to drive it. Entry portable amp may not be able to drive it so well.

Interested in this headphone as I can get the price for around RM570++, not sure it is suitable for my taste.. I prefer neutral and flat response without any colorations.
