but depend on how you definite "Drive"

as brother yuheng mentioned, volume drive definitely no problem in E9, any power amp can do that easily, however, the synergy matching and refinement is what most of people playing "Amp", to find the best matching, best enhancement for the maximum potential for this awesome K701, a wrong amp you will get missing/narrowed staging, missing low frequency, refinement bloated, accuracy and transparency not accurate etc. K701 level is really on high end equipment, many people do conclude this monster can produce a monstrous/ears dripping/wonderful sound if you can pair it with a very well match amp.
Which usually the amp cost more then the headphone alone
