Yes, please keep them safely. My sis "recycled" hers and couldn't produce it when the interviewer at EY asked for it. Because of that, she was rejected...although later she got into PwC after she got a copy of the transcript from ACCA office.

my gosh i'm terribly scared man... can we get it from our own college or we hv to go directly to ACCA office?

Hi everyone, I need some advice abt the recruitment.

3 weeks ago, I have called to EY at my hometown to ask for vacancy. The manager told me to write in, then I passed my resume on the same day. Now coming to the 4th weeks still haven receive any response, is it I have been rejected?

guys..recently i joined my college to go visit the the big four..visiting pwc and kpmg next week..so far dun really think there's much differences between the firms except for their size and office apperearance..which firm would u guys recommend ppl to join?
*
... overall, the big4 are fairly similar in terms of job scope etc. but i've got to say that PwC has a more extensive methodology and training regime as compared to the other 3. my 2c

I have a friend currently working in EY. According to him, the people there are very friendly. I wonder if the same applies to PWC as well? Any feedbacks? smile.gif ( Always heard rumours that pwc's working environment very tense + overload of kiasu people), not sure if thats true or not tongue.gif

IMHO, it's all the same.. in the Big4. You have your peaks, and you have your troughs. So it depends on your lucj (i.e. clientele that you get and bosses you work with). smile.gif

hi, i've been reading this thread for awhile.

i have just been offered by EY to be in REC, i havent accepted their offer, but as i heard some rumour rumour (dunno how true) that the dept recently is a bit messy...in the sense that some ppl have been held back from promotion, i was wondering if i should asked to be allocated elsewhere.

any comments? =)

I agree with this fact...in fact I know the methodologies team as well (though I am not from audit background). The bad thing about pwc's good methodologies would be the staff need to do more and more sampling, lol

100% true. I was in PwC and now with EY and I totally can feel the difference in culture. In pwc, the people are kiasu and work environment is very tense - the annual GWP surveys already prove this fact. But EY on the other hand has friendlier staff and people are more approachable within the department (whether senior or junior) and across all the LOS and groups.

It's true about it being 'messy' which is probably because the department is desperately understaffed...but don't believe the held back from promotion bit is true. Anyway, on the plus side - it would be a great way for you to learn a wider scope of the job and be a lot more independent compared to staff from departments

True, but we've greatly toned down the need for substantive TODs in recent times. Then again, it all depends on the sectors that you're in. I hardly do much of substantive TODs anyway smile.gif but the fact on other Big4's metholdologies that I've seen so far.. hmm, that's another story

I think you meant, GPW smile.gif Anyhow I can't comment much on the other Big4 working culture 'cos you'll have the easy and hard times. IMHO, I don't think that my dept's all that tense and kiasu (it's prolly others then). So far my friends who have moved on within the Big4 says their experience in other firms are different. Just takes awhile to get used to it.

What Peter said is true. If you're due for promotion, there isn't a slightest reason why they should hold you back. If you don't get it, heck.. join the other Big4..they'll definitely take you in smile.gif

Yea.. Good luck with that. It's probably more fun than trying to learn up FRS 111 and FRS 201. They're a pain rclxub.gif

Yes you can.
If not, I can always give you the HR Manager's email address (if you want) and you can send it straight to her.
That's for PwC anyway smile.gif

Thanatos: I hate FRS 111 and FRS 201. Damn PDE is really annoying. Good luck to you too..haha!

listen here. latest news from my director.

Big4 said we have mobility programme (mean they will send to oversea 1 ro 2 years exchange programme) it is rare to get that opportunity.

my idea is enter big4...stay there 3-4 years and LEAVE

that all .

One must first ask, Assurance or Advisory?
Well,
... in this current economic situation, the so-called mobility programme at least for PwC is far and few in between since a several offices (e.g. UK, Australia and US) have in fact frozen recruitment and slowed secondments.

And typically these "exchange programmes" would typically benefit AM / Mgr level.. ie. > 4 - 5 years experience. That's the reality, unfortunately. sad.gif
