paydirect doesnt work in RFID row? I try last week but not working
*
rfid lane = deduct ewallet

smarttag/tng lane = tap tng card -> deduct ewallet (paydirect) -> deduct tng card (if ewallet low balance)

That’s the problem, every time passing by this sharing lane I have to keep my Smart Tag, afraid of double deduction.

A few highways have a dedicated RFID lane, one of them is Duke 2

Agreed, smart tag + pay direct combo ftw, can cruise through without stepping on brake paddle.

cannot compare both la

smarttag is active rfid/tngcard. the smarttag reader already provide power to the card, and always standby to get triggered by toll tranceiver.

rfid sticker is passive. it's dormant. once passing thru the toll tranceiver, the rfid sticker (and its antenna) gets electricity (via electromagnetic induction) to wake up and begin communicating. this takes time, and definitely longer than smarttag.

From technical point of view diff things, but as a user I can compare, it bring up diff user experience, for me rfid is a step backward, just my personal preference la

for rfid to be on par with our usual expectation from smarttag, probably not now, not so soon anyway.

i heard in taiwan, they install high res cameras to capture license plate number and then bill you later. drivers can choose to use rfid (prepaid) or let camera do its work (postpaid). no fine unlike singapore smile.gif
