YouDontKnowMyNameYou can do this to the oil cooler hose to prevent it from bursting... but not from leaks.

hahaha it's quite creative, cheap and fast solution for interim corrective action ;p

Serious. It needs to be accessed from engine bay.
That cable tie trick is used for brake hoses, intercooler passage, and oil hose. DrexChan punya pasal.

That's quite an ingenious solution imo. Mad props to him flex.gif

This is what their reply when I am asking for official statement regarding this issue as this is a safety issues that can bring international attention, especially in Australia. Also probably in Chile soon as Proton is now in the process of getting into Chile automotive market (Few units is now under testing by Chile authorities, left hand drive). I am now demanding them to answer all of my question which basically about (1) official statement on safety issue (2) massive recall as this is manufacturing failure (3) special warranty coverage which is the cost free to user (4) proton must be responsible for the damages caused by the failure of OCH including car replacement, new engine oil, cleaning of affected engine compartment, engine failure [overhaul or engine repair] and (5) the recall must be without any condition where all unit must be changed either with or without pre-failure symptoms.

Wait so have they found a solution to the problem yet? If replace already but the problem will still recur again, then that's not very ideal is it

omg, suddenly it become a hot issue now after the radiator nipple issue. i though there's no more serious thing. almost 2 pages to this matters alone. doh.gif
*
Suddenly a large number of people facing the same thing. Doesn't seem like isolated incidents to me..

Might be due to the scorching hot weather lately putting lots of stress on that particular hose hmm.gif

They said that there is an improved version of the oil cooler assy, but it was yet proven for its reliability and durability. Since many affected users are now outside of warranty period, that is why I am demanding proton to take responsibility, not user. There are many cases that users have to pay for the replacement part (650-710 ringgit malaysia) although Proton is now indirectly agree that the older version of the assy is not to the par (by changing the part number, and the alert in internal buletin).
*
Ah. At least its good to know that they are well aware of the issue.

Just hoping that an official recall will be announced as soon as possible smile.gif

Thanks for elaborating wink.gif

There's a new article on paultan regarding the CFE engine's oil cooler hose issue.

QUOTE
“Proton is addressing the issue. Consumers are advised not to change or modify the component on their own. Please come back to us, get original parts from us. Custom jobs can void the car’s warranty,” he added. The custom job referred to in this case is the use of braided metal hoses to replace the original rubber items on the oil cooler unit.

On its official Facebook page, Proton has officially acknowledged the issue, and said that it’s currently working on a fix. Stay tuned for updates on this matter."
Of course, I can't share the link here directly because reasons so you guys can go check it out for yourselves smile.gif

Quite ridiculous imo. We wouldn't have to do "custom jobs" if it wasn't such a widespread problem and your so called original rubber hose isn't even good enough.

It's like driving around with a ticking time bomb that's ready to go off any minute. Of course lah we would rather take matters into our own hands doh.gif

Just went and tried to check the oil cooler hose on my EB. It's pretty hard to take a good look at it, plus it's quite difficult to get my phone camera in there to snap a pic.

This is the best I've got. Looks like its still fine though.

basically, where is the location ya?? need to crawl down the engine to see it?
*
It's somewhere around the back of this circled area. It's not easy to get a good look at it, and it's also not easy to get your phone camera in there to get a good shot.

I think it might be easier to jack up the car and see from underneath. Not sure though smile.gif

Anyone interested in Proton Exora parts list and pricing? It's free.
I looked at my OCA today, seems good.
Exact location can be observed from behind the front left wheel.

Photo of the item is taken by reaching my phone via the front left space of the engine bay.
Here it is.

Some info I got is that some SC are directed to hold new OCA for broke down cars that need it immediately.

Normal for cvt proton.hahahaha. It is actually the symptom for cvt mounting failure. Mine changed twice at 3000km and 11000km. At 11000km, they add washer and problem solved until today 17000km. Car Bold MC2, production april 15, registered in may 15.

CVT mounting failure? What kinds of symptoms did you get?

Hi

Just collect my eb.. everything is superb except one: upon releasing the brake pedal at speed above 20kmh, 1 out of 4 times, there will be a "tak" sound somewhere around front bonet. Really anoyying. Went to a service centre and they said it is normal with cvt.

Does anybody know what is it? Want to complaint during my first service.
*
This doesn't sound normal to me, although it must be said that the CVT box in the EB really is quite crappy. Lots of weird noises and jerky as hell doh.gif

Symptoms: Difficult and bit jerky when changing gears from n to p or vice versa. Tak tak sound when at low speed (~20kmh) whenever deceleration occurs with punch cvt jerking profile. Obvious rubberband effect of cvt at hihger speed.

Diagnosis : Cvt monting failure.

Treatment: Change the mounting with addition of washer at the cvt bracket.

After repair: No jerking at all. No problem in changing gears and less rubberband effect. Fast response cvt and quieter than before repair.
*
I think mine might have this symptom. It's not really a tak tak tak sound, but rather a kruk krukk krukk sound when coasting at 20kmh hmm.gif

Yes bro mine is a Turbo (I think August 2015-Dec 2015 Batch)... I never really looked into street driving... but from what I realised Street Driving memang heavy consumption.... coz on highway can manage 500-6-- on full, but on street usually much less.... not sure how much less exactly
*
Usually it's about 400km per tank for me in city driving, while it's around 550-600km per tank for 100% highway drive smile.gif

I have a heavy foot though

too sad, if it is really 350km for full tank (which is 55 litres), that's really really bad fuel consumption (approx 15.7l/100km).
*
For me it's about 400km for 50 litres. Which isn't good by any means either laugh.gif
