Planning to get  a new car..

Either this or Perodua  Alza.. how's  this car's  fc n any common problems so far? smile.gif
*
To me, Perodua Alza really can't be compared with Exora simply because both are miles apart in terms of space.

The Exora's fuel consumption can be found in my fuelly page in my siggy below. It's definitely not good, but then again its a huge heavy car.
Power is sufficient thanks to the turbo, but there are some minor complaints such as the CVT transmission's whining noises and sometimes jerky in jam conditions.

Alza on the other hand, is a very small car with 3rd row seats that are really only usable by kids. Fuel consumption should be better than exora as it is significantly lighter.

EXORA PROS:
1. Huge space
2. 3 row air cond (proton aircond best yo)
3. Turbo power
4. Cruise control (only in high spec though)
5. 2nd row passenger space good. 3rd row passenger space ok.

EXORA CONS:
1. Fuel consumption on the high side (8.5km/L in city / 12km/L on highway) [I have a relatively heavy foot]
2. CVT gearbox is not the most refined

My OEM battery died on me earlier this month, approximately 21 months after possession of the car. No prior indication. Midnight still works well, next morning, it's gone.

As for tires, I noticed similarity with some owners here, where the front tires outer sides worn off much faster. It's my second set. Back still uses the original tires and easily about 50% thread left. Front, not so much. But then, it's Continental; worn off pretty fast.

Our stock battery is 55D23L. Suggest change to 75D23L.
What replacement batteries do you all use? I'm using Korean brand GP MF battery this one.
*
Whats the reason for changing to 75 bro?

Anyway I just tested using OBD adapter and found out that my battery was at 12.2V. I just drove the car about 2 hours before.
Is this normal?

if not mistaken 12.2v is half of battery life... btw u tested during ignition or engine started... If engine started should around 14v...

try check again batter after at least 10 - 12 hours after switch off engine to know the actual batt performance.
*
I tested for the voltage using OBD when the ignition is in accessory mode.

When it was in accessory mode, the air conds were off, radio off etc

QUOTE(alexei @ Dec 22 2015, 04:56 PM)
75 has the higher CCA and RC value compared to 55. Usually more plates and better internal material.
Nominal RC values are 120 vs 100 for them.

12.2V after driving means your battery is not charging. How about when engine is running? Does it go near 14.4V?
After drive, the battery should go from 13.3V and slowly drop to 12.8V~12.6V over 12 hours.

Thanks for the explanation smile.gif

I don't remember what the voltage was when the engine was running, but after I shut the engine off again the voltage was 13.2V and after a few minutes went back down to 12.6V.

Perhaps I'll take a look at the voltage again tomorrow morning

Hi guys

My abs light is on since yesterday. But when i restart the engine the abs light is off and will on back at random time while driving.

So warranty already over many months ago, i clean the abs sensor myself ( it is not much dirt anyway) . I drive to test the car and abs light still on. But this time I try to jam the brake all the way and car never skids ( i did for 3 times to confirm ) which means abs still work while the light is on hmm.gif .

So i scan my obd reader and these 3 fault codes comes out

U1017 - no data online, maybe it is Proton specific code, most likely is the ABS code
P005E - Boost controller low voltage ( thats explain my sky high fc, 13.2l/100km )  sad.gif
P1401 - Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve  rclxub.gif

Just RON95 will do. No point wasting money on RON97 which doesn't provide any additional benefits nod.gif

arza04YouDontKnowMyNameAlso, do you mind sharing the items you monitor in your App?
I only have Voltage (Control Module), Coolant temp, Boost (psi), Timing Advance, Intake Temp, and Emission Readiness since DTC clear.
For the Emission Readiness, there are currently 3 items listed as "Incomplete". Can you see if yours is like that also?
*
I only opened the Voltage (Control Module) widget for monitoring the voltage. I don't often use the OBD smile.gif

Speaking of voltage, after letting the car sit for 12 hours before starting the engine I tested the voltage reading to be 12.2V.

Hmm hmm.gif

Average voltage per cell is dropping to near 2.03V (12.2V / 6), meaning it's weak for one or few of the cells. Guarantee one of them is already below 2.0V. Check the cranking voltage, does it drop below 10.8V? Suggest you bring to a car shop with a proper charger for recharge and monitor again after 12hrs. If condition persists, get a standby battery and replace it when dead.

If you are willing, with a penknife, cut through the sticker that covers the 6 refill holes of the RAMCAR battery. Then use a flat blade screwdriver to open the refill holes to check battery water levels and conditions of all the cells. This so-called maintenance free battery appears like normal lead acid one to me. Not sure if it is calcium based or not.

You can try to refill with distilled water and see if situation improves. My guess is likely not.
*
Will check the cranking voltage later today.

I might just get a standby battery to place it once it dies, rather than letting the battery just die on its own one day and cause lots of trouble for me wink.gif

already booked 2 weeks ago...waiting for the loan agreement...what colour is the best?  Between solid white, genetic silver & indiana grey...hope for a good unit  smile.gif

My EB is silver and its definitely the best colour for lazy people like me. Don't wash it for a month and it still looks fine laugh.gif

White definitely need to be rajin with cleaning. Even the tiniest bit of dirt will show very obviously. I'm speaking from experience as the other car in my home is white whistling.gif

I personally think the indiana grey looks good on the EB too smile.gif

Hi

My exora bold has some issue..When driving, its making a tak tak tak noise and feels underpowered. I brought it to proton coe, and they said the turbo charger is tersumbat..thats why there is that noise and underpowered. They said have to replace the turbocharger unit which will cost around 7k.

Anyone faced similar problem before? Is the turbocharger repairable instead of replacing it?
*
Damn shocking.gif

How old is your EB and how much is the mileage?

How old is ur EB and whats the mileage? I read few website and some of them change the turbocharge around rm6k. This issue shouldnt happen at all at the first place. Even more than 20years car VR4 turbine still working good...sad to hear it from Proton.
*
If I remember correctly, there was a case last time where the X1R engine additive will cause premature turbocharger failure. Some service centres previously sold the X1R additive to customers during service intervals.

My front tyres were 90% worn out, while my rear tyres were about 60% worn out. Might as well change all 4 since they had some promotion ongoing smile.gif
