is swimming a requirement in a pilot??haha...coz i might need to learn if i'm gonna apply.....
and can anyone tell me wat medical knowledge is needed as i have read in the beginning of the starting post....tongue.gif
*

Swimming is not mandatory.. Now everyone wear life jacket and even safety renewal course oso need to wear life jacket.. Can't just swim free2 and show off.. Of course if u cn swim is an added advantage la. Medical knowledge?? i didnt read front so i dunno. But regarding to medical,, just have to take care of ur health la. In flyng school got a subject 'human performance and limitation' something like tat. BAsically teach u general idea of health la.. What medicine can take and how to ensure enough rest. Being a pilot is an all rounder la.. We know bout health,, basic life savings,, we can read weather,, we know bout engine which can relates to car,, we so free in flight so read newspaper all the time and become knowledgeable,, can noe maths calculation like engineer,, study manual and learn all the lawyer terms 'shall' and 'must'.. And also every flight we deal with fuel.. Fuel is money and know when to take more,, when to be save is also something that will help us in life so some pilot can become millionaire if they manage money well. But of course,, we are still an employee so if wan to be rich,, pilot is not the job. Pilot is just a job that pays quite gud. Enough for a gud life but not super luxurious life. Our maximum pay is stated black and white clearly so can basicly calsulate our pay when we are at 50. Unlike doctors who hav a clinic,, lawyer who become partners, engineer who become project manager, accountant who become charted, inssurance agent, businessman who is gud at doing it and of course,, join the illigel comunity and sell dvd and be rich instantly. Become MP and join politics can get rich fast too. All this job have sky as the limit. Sory bad grammer.. Really lazy to post nowadays..

I think physic is a MUST if you want to be a pilot.

QUOTE(kb2005 @ Feb 23 2009, 07:04 AM)
Which airline your friend in ? If without physic, i think you can only enter private pilot class! Correct me if i'm wrong!
*
No,, physic not a must.. But preferbly at least got the 'sains asas' that art stream oso take one la..

pilot n steward/stewardress nid to hav good eye sight rite, bt im short sighted wif bout 500 degree, if i go laser, will i eligible to work in such jobs?
wat does 6/9 eye sight stands for??
air steward cn work at most hw many yrs? n their salary hw much per month?
*
nowadays eye sight not a problem,, just apply oni. as long as with spec can be corrected to 6/6. i oso suppose to wear spec but never wear.. laser policy i am not sure for mas and airasia. but for sia,, its even covered in their health coverage if i m not mistaken. lots of sia pilot doing lasik now in singapoire according to one of my relative. all mau gaya saje..kakaka! nowadays with computer around,, hard to get a perfect eye sight person. even old alde oso will have problem one la. air steward can work till quite old,, maybe 50+. basic salary is not sure but stewardess salary mainly deends on their meal allowance.. the more they fly,, more money they get. the more expensive station they go,, the more money they get.. but honestly,, salary increase,, lifestyle oso increase very much for air crew as the people surrounding very high living standard due to easy access to branded stuff oversea la..

QUOTE(rey5516 @ Feb 27 2009, 11:56 PM)
oh.....ok...i'm thinking of applying for it after my engineering course.....wat r the chances of me getting in???should i jsut apply 1st or wait 4 the intake huh?????air asia or mas better???i heard MAS a bit....'pilih kasih'...lolx...
*
if i got a degree,, i will work for SIA.. can see obvious standards different between SIA and MAS and MAS with airasia. no offence but different company have different kind of pre selection test. SIA test is stringent and people who do bad in flying school will be dismiss. the others i wont comment much as it will offend many people. But with cable,, one airline no problem to enter at all. Another airline,, depends if ur father mother gt money,, then 'everyone can fly' as flying school want money and train whoever that pay them and gurantee will pass one even i seen some are really really not meant to be pilot at all. an airline pulak will take whoever with licence because they desperately needs pilot for their growing fleet. So the conclusion is becoming pilot in malaysia is not that hard after all. Just better be quick,, flying school is growing like mushroom in our country suddenly all over the place includes bintulu and johor. Its a matter of time before the market get saturated again.

i dun tink sia stop recruit malaysians la.. its because economy hit them real bad.. their pilots and staff are force to take voluntary leave.. and they are selling aircraft too..

mas currently have no opening because they have too many cadets now lying idle.. no point taking more intake.. however,, chances are there as they have to continue sending cadets to some flying school due to the contract between mas(abdullah) and fying schools(tan sri and datuk owner)..

can the Tech Crew reveal themselves?
it would be easier for the aspiring pilots to ask questions.

quite a few of the forumers who replied here only know half the story. sometimes they give the wrong information to the aspiring pilots.

My fren who is a first officer in AirAsia told me that he earns about RM12K a month, ie RM6K as basic and RM6K as allowance.

Is that true? Anyone here mind to confirm this?
