Hi Guys/Gals,
Last month I bought the Lenovo Y50-70 UHD and it an amazing machine I ever used but after using it for about a month, I did not notice the bottom of the machine when I took it from the shop that a crack has been developed around the hinges and the side.

I did not drop it or something like that as I always keep it in the bag when not in used as with any IT product that I owned, I treat them like babies tongue.gif tongue.gif

So I took the laptop back to Lenovo service centre and they send it back to HQ and what they mention in their email shocked me.

As per our standard Terms and Condition, Lenovo is obligated to repair / replace parts / hardware component of your said machine in the event of valid hardware failure is diagnosed. However, in your case the base cover crack found on your machine is not supported according to our Standard  Lenovo Statement of Limited Warranty, therefore we regret to inform you that we are unable to comply to your request for part replacement at no cost.
WHAT?? I paid so much for a laptop FYI RM5.3K + RM199 for the extended warranty and something like this is not covered even damage that I did not occur. It's not a cheap laptop and I expected better customer service, haiz cry.gif

So fine, if that's the case, I ask them to quote me the price to fix the issue and be done with it and guess what, take a look at the pic below.....

as you can imagine, what is this made of GOLD?? no way I'm going to pay that so I took my laptop back and continue using it.

now I want your opinion guys, what should I do, I afraid of that crack might get worst over time.

quite pity you! did you carry your y50 around? if not you can find a desk and use it as a desktop, dun close and open lid so frequently so it will no go worst. after warranty you may find spare part online and change it yourselves, at that time i think the cost will lower than now ba. sad.gif

i heard that long ago changing the laptop plastic casing is free for acer, and it doesnt have to be broken, it can be changed due to dirty, old, etc. but have to wait for stock availability due to so many laptop models around.

try to report it to lenovo official public forum and email it to lenovo international HQ and see what they reply.

Cramming so much feture and performance at the price they are selling, something gotta give. Simple engineering really, the bigger they are the trickier the engineering for the casing. Lenove have spent so much on them innards there is not that much leftover to make a better casing. Reason why business grade laptops are a lot more expensive than consumer grades where more resources are directed towards protecting the system inside. With business grade machines you will just get so so performance but you will get lots of years out of them. Them higher grades Dell Precision cost a bomb.

is not reseller issue ... i went to lenova office in Penang and this is their response (i never go back reseller)...
worst, when they finally call up, they said they will highlight the issue back to CHina lenova, wondering wtf malaysia do ? why after sales, warranty and customer services need to highlight to manufacturer but not local ......
basically they just playing taichi

they just pushing their responsibility away ..... i do ask them about "refer back to china Lenova", what malaysia Lenova position in malaysia, sell and collect profit ?
when my phone die, i don't mind give lenova second try, but after their PR Official call up, i stop it here .... no more lenova and i will help them to promote ..

Reason i stop Lenova.
1. Poor Warranty system.
2. Poor Customer Service.
3. Poor After Sales service.
4. Worst PR Official. (If the company PR sux, that company is hopeless d)
They have brainless PR official ..... sorry for hard word.
