Some comments after a quick hands-on.
Hardware:
- The screen is sharp and vibrant. So far I have no issue with 15:9 ratio. Oh ya this is the largest phone I have ever had. This phone is replacing my Huawei H3C which has 5". Because of the 15:9 ratio, the height of MX4's display is only ~6-7mm taller than a normal 16:9 5 incher phones. The colour temperature tends to be slightly on the warm side.
- It feels comfortable and light for such a size. But then most of my previous phones (Lumia 1020, Honor 3C) are on heavier side because I prefer solid feeling.
- When you hold the phone, your fingers will touch the mag alloy bezel. It feels premium.
- But the rear enclosing is a let down. Mine creaks a little if I press it. Other reviews had been saying it doesn't creak.
- The built-in speaker is LOUD. Probably a tad too loud lol.
Software:
- Out of box, it has ~12GB of empty space left (for 16GB model). It comes with Google Play but do not have those regular Google apps pre-installed like Chrome, Gmail, Hangout, Youtube etc.
- The Flyme OS (actually not an OS lol) seems to be lightweight. It's a heavily gesture-based skin. It only supports up to 5 rows of icons at one home screen page; leaving big gaps in between of rows. I personally prefer a more compact layout so it doesn't waste any screen estate.
I will update this later on with pics when I got time lol.
