But of course, if it doesn't arrive this week, don't blame me for hyping this up hahaha.

I like the pro specs but the original design. Imho the fingerprint sensor looks out of place.
*
Yup. The Pro specs is great but the square fingerprint sensor looks very odd. Doesn't match at all. It's like putting a normal car bumper on a racing car. doh.gif Those who are into specs and performance maybe can overlook that design. For me I'm only a light user. This Mediatek octa is more than enough for me. smile.gif 2GB also OK. Don't see the need for 3GB since I don't use much apps. tongue.gif

Yours is an AP set right? Is it an international set or China domestic set? Does it come with Google Play or you have to manually install it?

Some comments after a quick hands-on.

Hardware:
- The screen is sharp and vibrant. So far I have no issue with 15:9 ratio. Oh ya this is the largest phone I have ever had. This phone is replacing my Huawei H3C which has 5". Because of the 15:9 ratio, the height of MX4's display is only ~6-7mm taller than a normal 16:9 5 incher phones. The colour temperature tends to be slightly on the warm side.
- It feels comfortable and light for such a size. But then most of my previous phones (Lumia 1020, Honor 3C) are on heavier side because I prefer solid feeling.
- When you hold the phone, your fingers will touch the mag alloy bezel. It feels premium.
- But the rear enclosing is a let down. Mine creaks a little if I press it. Other reviews had been saying it doesn't creak.
- The built-in speaker is LOUD. Probably a tad too loud lol.

Software:
- Out of box, it has ~12GB of empty space left (for 16GB model). It comes with Google Play but do not have those regular Google apps pre-installed like Chrome, Gmail, Hangout, Youtube etc.
- The Flyme OS (actually not an OS lol) seems to be lightweight. It's a heavily gesture-based skin. It only supports up to 5 rows of icons at one home screen page; leaving big gaps in between of rows. I personally prefer a more compact layout so it doesn't waste any screen estate.

I will update this later on with pics when I got time lol.

Nice pic,why dont u go for other colour?
*
Thanks. smile.gif
I don't like other colours. For me, the bezel of any phones or tablets must be black to give the best viewing experience. That's why I don't like white or gold. Even my iPad Mini RD too, I went for grey.

I will post up a review soon. But so far, all I can say is for a fraction of iPhone 6 Plus' price, its worth every penny paid. But whether it is worth 2x the price of other China phones or not (like Huawei H3C or Redmi Note), or a bit more than Mi4, it remains to be seen. After all, it's about managing expectation.

my concern is about camera performance and battery only, other thing as long as dont create problem to me i not really care  biggrin.gif
*
I only shoot some pics. It seems to be good. Surely better than average phone out there but I'm coming from Lumia 1020 and before that I had 808PV. So my expectation ain't high for this MX4. So far I like the colour reproduction and WB accuracy.

Battery wise, the Flyme settings are kinda limited. Only got three profiles and you cannot customize any programs running behind etc. This morning I noticed it was draining much faster than yesterday (no scientific measurement here). So I switched to other mode and back to balance mood. It's been steady now. I think it can easily last a full day. Currently at 65% with 13 hours 20mins since last charge, SOT ~85mins. I think ideally it should be better since I made some changes midway.

Lumia 1020 and 808, u bought HP solely depends on camera performance? shocking.gif
*
Yes. lol I like cameras, but I don't have the talent. tongue.gif

On 808PV, to be honest, I sold my Fujifilm X100 after that because I was shooting more on 808PV than a DSLR. But it was slow and lacking of apps. After a year, I finally gave up and changed to L1020. The L1020 did everything better than the 808PV, expect the camera (noise, WB and colour). doh.gif I used it for almost a year and then replaced it entirely with a Ricoh GR camera.

So this MX4, the camera performance is a bonus for me. Definitely a big step up compared to my H3C. But if only manufacturers stopped chasing Megapixels... what would have been? I mean this sensor size with 8MP should be able to produce cleaner images.

its all about marketing strategy, not all phone maker are confidence like Apple who can insist on 8mp and make it better. Small/low reputation phone makers only can boost as much as MP to catch attention from consumers. Most consumers wont read camera reviews of the phone, they judge simply by how MP, so cant really blame HP makers for doing so too.

Tried Ipong6+, the OIS is really good, much better than a compact camera in low light.
*
Yup. Even for 808PV and L1020, I wonder what would have been, if they did not insist on 41MP. Although the pixel binning algorithm was good, but it could have been better if it's 20MP.

This MX4 doesn't have an OIS though. But in manual mode, can set the shutter speed like in DSLR. Can force 1/20s (shaky hands here) and let the ISO adjust itself to be as low as possible.

Bro i got 2 question if you don't mind.

1- does the phone is completely aluminum build, or just metal frame with plastic back cover?
2- the round shape home button at the front is clickable button or just capacitive design?

Thanks. tongue.gif
*
1. Magnesium alloy frame with plastic back cover. That plastic cover fit is a little disappointing for me.
2. It's a capacitive button with halo white LED. No physical click. This button, although is sensitive, requires some learning curve. Sometimes I pressed it, it doesn't go to home page although the halo LED lighted up to notify the touch is registered. Not sure why.

QUOTE(TOMEI-R @ Dec 1 2014, 10:17 AM)
If you guys compare the Iphone6's camera sensor with other phones, then you will understand why its camera is still superior even with a 8mp shooter.
*
Yes it is. For a 8MP shooter, the pixel level quality is very good.

i dont think phone CS will help, their tracking system sucks big time. Last update from tracking system is still friday night =.=

i stay at JB, normally poslaju and Gdex very fast to my area as well, like next day arrive. I have good experience purchasing from Lazada as well but this Skynet really "sweat"  sweat.gif
*
I mean call Skynet branch at your local area.
How efficient Skynet work really depends on the local branch. Basically they don't have a standard SOP for all branches and some branches have their own way of doing things. sweat.gif
