The is already a mx4 thread available, no point to open multiple topic on the same phone

https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/3375390
*
It seems to me that thread is not maintained properly. A proper thread is needed for this phone. smile.gif

I'm still waiting for the official launch in Malaysia. Initially it was Oct, then end of Nov...now if you read their FB post, today it said probably early Dec. doh.gif

but medieTek cpu, would be doubt on after sale OTA , haiz

You mean Mediatek processor powered Android device is least likely to receive OTA updates? Why is that so?

Ah...just noticed they are bringing 16GB model only! Without microSD card slot... 16GB is definitely not enough for most people.... Especially this is a mid high end phone. What are they thinking?

Guys, Lazada starts taking pre-order for MX4 16GB already.

QUOTE(2am_solo @ Nov 20 2014, 07:02 AM)
Because mostly mediatek processor lack of compatibility with latest android, most dev having issue with this and turn to be snapdargon

Example, redmi Note 3g power by mediaTek, they just so hard to get it 4.4 android, meanwhile they produce a new variant redmi note 4g, which power by snapdragon already upgrade to 4.4
*
Hmmm...this is new to me! I thought ARM instructions are compatible across all ARM, especially same version number. Probably mediatek is missing out several crucial instructions?

love mx4 front exterior, hate mx4pro square-samsung-alike button, but why the hell mx4 no nfc !!! Such a deal breaker for me !
*
Ya agree completely with you! The inclusion of that square home button completely screwed up the overall design.
BTW, what do you use NFC for?

Having high end phone with 16gb of storage? You'll need otg drive for sure
*
Haha if you read my earlier post, that was exactly what I thought. 16GB is ridiculously small for a 2014 mid-high end phone. But then I checked my current phone and found out I only used 3.1GB. doh.gif So it's still fine for me because I'm not really into mobile gaming nor using lots of apps but of course I'm very sure it's inadequate for normal users. Plus I am impatient to wait any longer. Hopefully I will not regret later. sweat.gif

hope to get some review from user
*
Haha see how it goes. It will only arrive sellers on 28th and then will take a few days to ship from them. To be honest, the dimension, design, mag alloy frame and price are the things I like the most regarding this phone. The Mediatek SoC may not be able to compete with other flagship chips but it's more than enough for me.

I do have a few concerns. One reviewer (forgot where the source is) mentioned the video shot by this phone will be 15:9 resolution as well, and will have issues playing the video on other 16:9 phones. CNET reviewer gave a mediocre score for this phone mentioning it's buggy. He said the 15:9 display has compatibility issues with some apps. Another concern for me is the non-standard one home button UI. Not sure if I will get along well with that.

about the battery performance, i read through many reviews, some said great (1.5day at least), 2 said poor, like the link u provided. dont know what happen though hmm.gif
argggg rclxub.gif

and another thing is now im using nexus 4 lollipop 5.0, if buy this phone means have to downgrade to kit kat  tongue.gif
*
Yeah. Not sure why there is a big difference in terms of batt. performance in their reviews. Anyway a forummer here used to have this phone told me the battery consumption is better than HTC and iPhone equivalent. Just not as good as OnePlus One.

This thread of course. tongue.gif

Learnt from another review saying thr Meizu's camera performs better than Z3's own camera even though its the same camera. rclxms.gif
*
IINM there are three of us here who preordered tongue.gif

I'm not surprised with that because the same thing happened in DSLR scene. Sony has a fantastic sensor team but an underperforming JPEG team. Not sure why.

QUOTE(Ah hao @ Nov 23 2014, 03:52 PM)
all reviews result are different, i saw (almost) all the review in english and chinese, some said good, some said bad for camera and battery... Many users in china complain that camera is very very slow, nothing like what it advertised, but almost all review didnt mention this problem at all.

what i saw from china forum:

1. camera very bad, focus and shooting take a long time, very easily blur.
2. phone speaker when listening to music will have a noise, like "electric" noise, a firmware issue.
3. random reboot always.
4. screen flickering/jumping

But none of this mention in reviews at all, not sure what is happening. Maybe is "competitors" spy to wreck meizu reputation? im not sure about that.
*
Ya. Seems to me there are two extreme of reviews ratings out there.

Something to 'motivate' you all further.  rclxms.gif
The MX4 pitted againts the G3 and Z3.

To be honest, I'm not interested with synthetic benchmark figures at all. I don't play games with my phone and it's already fast enough for normal browsing etc. As long as the UI can run smoothly (which current synthetic benchmarks cannot measure) it's already good enough.

Fair enough. But its only benchmarks like this that take the most out of these smarrphones. nod.gif
*
One interesting pattern emerged. I noticed this Mediatek MT6595 octa is good at Antutu. Even better than the Exynos 5 octa 5430 found in Alpha. Interestingly, this is probably the only CPU-related benchmark the Mediatek octa wins over Exynos octa. hmm.gif

Well, Antutu is the most famous and commonly used benchmark in the android world right now.  nod.gif  I dont think there is a need to dispute their finding either.
*
No. Don't get me wrong. It's not about dispute.
I'm just wondering what does it measure that this benchmark can fully utilize Mediatek SoC while others cannot. It must be some instructions sets, or compilation optimization or the number of threads used etc.

It is the same set of test and processes applied on the many different type phones it is meant to test.
*
You don't get what I mean lol. smile.gif
I said why other benchmarks (not other phones) cannot reap the same performance pattern as Antutu.
