hahaha! i can understand your problem and solution. i can safely say that it waznt EZ for me to pull the trigger on the W5k, unseen and unheard!!!

but dino's rite in a way, it is more fun and u'd appreciate it a lot more if u work your way up. Hopefully, u can learn to differenciate the nuances btwn all the different makes and models out there and narrow down what floats your boat. enjoy!

Thanks a lot guys.

Appreciate your info and opinions.

Such a hard decision huh smile.gif

Most probably get the cheap closed typed for office use and open type for home use.

For now I only have my DVD player + Yamaha RXV 540 (amp).....I guess that would be sufficient for now...

kewl! good for u dude thumbup.gif . bucking the current "local" opinion isnt easy but i believe u've made a very good choice. IMO AT's build quality and comfort is top notch and there are 2many positive opinions out there to make it bad cans. do update us with your personal impressions when u get it. be mindful of the break-in that maybe required b4 the sounds blooms. congrats on a fine purchase icon_rolleyes.gif

Hi scottiebabie

Yup, local opinions + head-fi, etc......I would say it fits my budget for a closed headphone.

For home use will save more and go for open type.

Ok, will try to give my personal experience when I got it but this is my 1st time getting this level of headphones so I don't have anything to compare except to my 8 years Aiwa open type headphone smile.gifsmile.gif

Btw, how long does it takes to do the break-in?

Thanks again

yup madman is correct. 100-300hrs seems to be the general accepted break-in rule. what i usually do is to plug it in to some tunes (or wateva) and leave it on at a reasonable sound level (reg listening volume or slightly higher but NEVER maxed out!) 24/7 for atleast a week. mite be a good idea to jot down an initial pre break-in sound impression to have a comparo latter on.

i personally havnt heard the A900s b4 but i believe it'l put a ear to ear smile on your face esp. when u compare with your 8yr old aiwa. hehe. hope to hear your impressions soon.

Hi mADmAN

Ok, thanks for the info.

That is going to take me 15-20 working days (average usage around 5-6 hours daily) smile.gif

My opinions would only be comapred to my old headphones. smile.gif

Hi scottiebabie

Can't leave it running neither office or home smile.gifsmile.gif

Office not safe and home my daughter (2 years ++) woudl be very happy to play around with it. hehehhe

So, its going to take me sometimes since main usage only in the office.

Yeah, hope it is as expected. Must be better than my 8 years old Aiwa. smile.gif

Just found out that it passed customs and now on the way to Shah Alam Poslaju center.

Should arrive to my house tomorrow (I don't use office address to avoid customs tax)

Thanks guys.

Finally...

Received the shipment this morning through Poslaju.

For me, so far so good. Very comfortable. Looks heavy but light and comfortable.

And it is a big cans !!!

Just now started with Indonesian songs (My Heart OST), Susan Wong 2 (I wish You Love) and now playing Susan Wong (Close To You).

Later would be Best of Audiophiles Voices, Surrender 2 Love, Maksim, Yanni, etc.

how much did it cost you? I hope you enjoy it. I have little affection with the A900ltd, if not loath laugh.gif, for how it sounded given that kind of price. Did your daughters ask you why are there crop circles on your head (hair) after using the headphone for awhile? tongue.gif

Hi AlamakLor

It costed me USD182 (shipped with EMS)

Was contemplating between AKG K 271 and AT900 but at the end I went for AT900 due to price and willingness of the shop to ship to Malaysia.

I can't comment much as I don't have any other current headphones to compare except my old cans.

Hehehe..daughter hasn't seen it yet. I actually went back to home to get from the Poslaju and went back to office. smile.gifsmile.gif

Anyway, she is just 2 years ++ so still ok but she surely wants to try if she see me putting it on my head.

Care to share what is your little affection?

Thanks

Let me guess the little affection, is it the low bass?

when I said little affection...I didn't really mean I like it at all, in fact, I meant that I didnt quite like them. The A900ltd is supposedly an improvement over the A900. My friend has a pair of A900ltd and I had tried it many times in many different occassions. The phone is just awfully horrible in the vocals, total muffleness and the infamous AT mid range honkiness is surprisngly prominent. The phone is also upfront and pretty much have the same kind of treble found in the W series. The bass on the A900ltd was ok, but afaik, the A900 is quite bass shy. I didn't mean to burst your bubble though. Although I havent heard of the senn 595, if it is anything like the 555 as most ppl claimed, it would be a signicant improvement over the A900. 595 cost USD160 + shipping over here....should be more or less the same price when it gets to malaysia. btw, the hd580 can also be had for around USD160+/- shipped to malaysia. Anyway, hope you like it, this is definitely not my cup of tea...and I have a hard time trying to figure out why would anybody like them sweat.gif

EDIT: btw, I dont have the rights to justify your purchase biggrin.gif
