doesn't matter, a review on the AD700 would be sufficient for gauging

if price iznt in, d lowest fullsize AT fon i'd get is ATH A900. been reading nothing but good things re. A900 n yup..iz huge . defnatly not for portable use

wud get 1 myself ifnot coz adi hav a senn HD600/mogami cable (veil...wat veil? onli veils i kno of is wats on middle eastern women..or men ) so no pt repeating.

onli other must hav ATs are d sexyyyy WOODIES or mayb leatherrrr.....

I think u can audition a few at Ampang Park (that's what it's called right?)

Seems they have a shop holdin AT stuff there.

Thread starter, why not put an owner list so that more can participate. I realized not much response from AT owners here...

one should ALWAYS test AT's phones before buying any of them. They have their own sound signature that not everybody likes.

ps: never had the chance to try the ad700 unfortunately but they....the ad900ltd sounds like crap to my ears....my friend is looking to sell it...anybody interested?

EDIT: friend says USD300 shipped (limited edition nia...someone get it )

What signature sound? I heard someone said in another thread that it has this "tunnel" kinda sound. Something like hearing from the end of a pipe. Is that true? I was planning to buy 1 but can't really find anyway or anyone to test it.

yup, you'd get those kind of sound out of the AT, same for the RS-1 and RS-2, thought not nearly as severe as the AT.

but besides that, the mid range is very colored, guess you really have to try it yourself to know. Try not to buy any AT phone blindly...

Oh crap.. I thought of getting Audio Technica CK7 instead of Sennheiser CX300..

ive heard a few AT earphones...they all sound the same...honky and colored. They all just sound that way as far as I know.

great piece of advise. wholeheartly agreed!

Only problem is the slight issue called REALITY. the reality is we live in this hibiscusland called malaysia and except for the lower sonys, panas, jvc, etc.. demo'ing better cans are a virtual impossibility.
kudos to MADMAN for having the audacity to drive down to our frenly neighbour down south, otherwise we are shit outta luck.

O and not trying to provoke a hornet's nest here but IMO, most if not all things are flawed. the more "highend" the more obvious and bigger the flaws. 4eg. take the
SOTA ceramic brakes on F1 cars. its the only braking system designed to decelerate multi g's and bring a F1 car from 300+kph to 60kph in seconds (beside an imoveable wall ie) but use the same brakes on your grandfather's car..and it'l be worse than crap. its an accident waiting to happen as your granpappy's car would not (n cannot) generate the high temperature needed for the F1 ceramic brakes to work. IOW the car has no brakes! but for decelerating an F1 racing car on a racing circuit, theres nothing better.

examples like that abounds almost everywhere and in everything (inld ppl IMO). the more brilliant the person, the more "eccentric" he/she is. Mother Teresa IMO, was a saint and the 20th century's greatest humanitarian but do some research and u'l find just how flawed her character is.

so..demo all the equipment u can (if possible) and buy the items u like. but oso face the reality that it is in all probability flawed (in 1way or another). get the equipment tat sounds good to your ears and enjoy. just bcoz som1 thinks its crap doesnt make it so. as always CAVEAT EMPTOR (buyer beware).

ps: i own a ath-es5 and have another AT can coming in next week. i dont know about the midrange "honkiness" but now that i think about it, there mayb a slightly midrange emphasis compared to other fons that i own. now perhaps the es5 is a bad example (being in the lower end) but i like it. i find it very musical esp with female vocals. infact, its become my favourite portable cans over and above the ksc75 and others

addon: pardon me, there is 1 place (that i know of) where perfection do exist. not only is there free excess but most of us get to go daily. To paraphrase the immortal words of my ex gf (esp when im being cheeky).."in your dreams scott..in your dreams"
